Rain or shine, the 2026 Walk With Israel is THIS MONDAY, September 7 at 11am! The forecast may be looking a little wet, but nothing is going to dampen our spirits! To keep everyone comfortable, the Rosh HaShanah Market, DJ, welcome remarks, community booths, children's carnival (face painting, games, and more), and Israeli snacks may be relocated inside the Paperny Family JCC.

The 5km Community Walk is still on! If you're joining us, come prepared with your umbrella, raincoat, water bottle (there will be no water trucks or bottled water on site), Israeli flags, and plenty of enthusiasm! Let's come together to celebrate the strength, pride, and connection of Jewish Calgary. Please know that every precaution is being taken to help ensure the safety and security of all participants and volunteers. We appreciate your help in creating a welcoming and positive environment throughout the Walk. Register now and join us for this incredible community event!

Class is back in session—and so is Calgary Hillel! Post-secondary students, welcome the 2026 school year with us at the Calgary Hillel Kickoff BBQ and Campfire on Tuesday, September 15 at 6pm! Gather with students from across the city for an evening of grilled grub, a crackling campfire, fun games, and good vibes. It's the perfect opportunity to meet new friends, reconnect with familiar faces, and get a sneak peek at everything Calgary Hillel has planned for the 2026/2027 school year. You'll also have the chance to meet our new Hillel Coordinator, Katya Zarvii! Don't miss out on this fun and free event – register now and get ready to kick off another great year with Calgary Hillel!

Sunny skies, chubby cheeks, and plenty of tummy time! Shalom Baby made the most of summer by bringing parents, caregivers, and their little ones together every Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30pm. This summer, we even took our gathering outdoors on a particularly hot July afternoon, cooling off with bubbles, splash toys, and inflatable pools! It was the perfect way for little ones to play, explore, and make new friends while their parents enjoyed time together. Shalom Baby is a welcoming space for caregivers and infants under two years old to socialize, connect, and build community.

And there's even more to come! Stay tuned for special guests and childcare professionals joining us at upcoming sessions. On Wednesday, September 9, we'll be joined by Dafna I, an infant physiotherapy specialist who recently moved to Calgary from Israel. This free, weekly program requires no registration. If you have questions, recently welcomed a baby and want to learn how to connect, or haven't received your free Shalom Baby Gift Bag yet, contact Shirel Barlev.

Did You Know? Last week, we kicked off the 2026 UJA Campaign and shared why every gift from our community matters. But you may be wondering: What exactly is UJA?

UJA stands for United Jewish Appeal – the name of Calgary Jewish Federation's annual giving campaign. And Calgary isn't alone! Many Jewish Federations in cities across North America call their annual fundraising campaigns "UJA." The United Jewish Appeal was first established in American communities in 1939, and in 1959, UJA became the name of Jewish Calgary's central philanthropic campaign. More than 65 years later, the tradition continues, bringing our community together to support Jewish life and shape a vibrant Jewish future. UJA is more than a campaign – it's a community tradition powered by all of us.

As we launch our 2026 Campaign, we invite you to be part of this tradition. Make your UJA gift today and help strengthen Jewish Calgary for today and for generations to come… That's Federation.
