Calgarians marked UN Interfaith Harmony Week February 1-7 with a series of fascinating opportunities for dialogue and learning. The opening ceremonies on February 1 featured our own Sidney Cyngiser and Mikayla Seidman, who spoke about the importance of passing on tradition from generation to generation. The event is organized by the Interfaith Council of Calgary, co-chaired by Rabbi Shaul Osadchey and Rev. Dr. Danielle Ayana James.
One of Federation's local interfaith events is Hillel Calgary's annual Avi Shabbat, a dinner for students and young adults that brings together people of all faiths and backgrounds. This year's event on February 23 is sponsored by CIJA and the Avi Schaefer Fund.
Federation is proud to partner with Jewish Family Service Calgary to once again present L'Dor V'Dor – Sharing Our Memories, a luncheon to give young adults the opportunity to hear the stories of local Holocaust Survivors. This program on March 11 is one of the initiatives made possible by a grant from the HRDC - New Horizons for Seniors Program. Other events include presentations at the United McDougal Church, and at the Crowfoot and Village Square Libraries.
