Noteworthy News from the Calgary Jewish Federation family
September 28, 2018 | 19 Tishrei 5779
A day of learning and laughing took place on September 13, when both Akiva Academy and CJA students listened to disability and mental health advocate and professional stand-up comedian, Pamela Schuller tell her story of growing up with Tourette's Syndrome. In the evening, our community gathered with Pamela to learn the importance of ensuring that we continue to remain open and inclusive to all.
What a tremendous Super Sunday of calling and connecting with donors and volunteers. Over $100,000 was raised! THANK YOU to all those – from pre-teens to seniors – who gave of their time to fundraise. Stay tuned for more information on future cell-a-thons. In the meantime, if you haven't made your 2018 UJA donation, visit us online because EVERYONE COUNTS!
campus monument
The Walking Table has been installed as a monument to our donors who generously supported the Campus Capital Campaign so many years ago. Campaign chairs, Bob and Sydney Kalef / Shep Secter and Marina Paperny, along with designer and architect Bill Pechet, were on hand to reveal the table which includes bronze plaques displaying the names of all the donors. All are welcome to view and enjoy this monument in the treed area behind the JCC.
Thank you to our community partner, Jewish Family Service Calgary for another strong year of impact. Check out their annual report for all the amazing work they do.
