On November 3, 65 PJ Library® families came together for a fun day of learning and creativity inspired by the art of Gustav Klimt. Local artist, Katerina, led a group of PJ Library for Russian-Speaking Families in the morning, and another group of PJ Library and PJ Our Way families in the afternoon, in a hands-on art class which included a fascinating demonstration on working with gold leaf. PJ Library engagement programs are funded by generous local donors, allocations from the Annual UJA Campaign, and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. PJ Library for Russian Speaking Families is funded through a grant from the Genesis Philanthropy Group. For more information about PJ Library, and to sign up for free Jewish books for children from ages six months to twelve years old, please email Kathie Wainer or phone 403-537-8592.
Last week a delegation from Calgary Jewish Federation visited Israel for the Partnership2Gether (P2G) meetings in Etzba Hagalil (The Galilee Panhandle). After the meetings and site visits, our group participated in Yom Canada, a very special day bringing together volunteers and staff from across Canada and Israel to share experiences and best practices. The group learned about Israel’s amazing spirit of innovation, participated in a number of Jewish Peoplehood exercises, and discussed various Israel-Canada partnerships. A very productive day culminated at a reception hosted in the residence of Canadian Ambassdor to Israel Deborah Lyons. Special guest from The Jewish Agency for Israel , Chairman Isaac Herzog was also in attendance.  If you would like to learn more about Jewish Calgary’s special relationship with Israel, please contact Adam Silver, CEO.
