Kol Hakavod to Wynne and Harvey Thal for volunteering to be the Co-Chairs of Federation's 2017 United Jewish Appeal Campaign. Their already broad experiences as UJA leaders position them and the campaign for great success!
Close to 3,000 high school students
attended Federation’s annual Holocaust Education Symposium  on May 9, 10 and  11. The students heard from historians and  watched a film about the rise of the Nazis.  But as always, the most significant part of  the program was hearing the difficult and  personal survivor testimonies. The message  delivered by all the survivors was: don’t be  a bystander if you witness antisemitism,  racism, bigotry or bullying. Thank you to  our partners at Mount Royal University without whom the symposium would not  be possible and to the many volunteers  who make sure the symposium runs like  a well-oiled machine. And our sincere  gratitude to the survivors and second and  third generation presenters who make the  symposium meaningful and emotional.
What is P2G you ask? It stands for Partnership 2Gether, a collaboration between six Jewish Federations across Canada and our partner region in Israel, called Etzba HaGalil (the Galilee panhandle). The Canadian-hosted conference was held in Calgary last weekend, bringing together Federation staff, Israeli Mayors, and volunteer committee members to discuss projects to support life in Israel.
Mazal Tov to the staff and volunteers of Jewish Family Service Calgary for their successful fundraiser at Jack Singer Concert Hall, featuring a special presentation of the popular CBC radio comedy show "The Debaters."
