On Wednesday, August 28, faculty and staff from Calgary Jewish Academy and Akiva Academy joined Dr. Peg Dawson at Beth Tzedec Congregation for Striving and Thriving: Strengthening Executive Skills. Jewish Calgary educators gained the tools to nurture inclusion in the classroom and assist their students in developing executive skills, critical to academic success and everyday life. That evening around 20 families attended a second session at Calgary JCC . Sincere thanks to Dr. Dawson, participants, Beth Tzedec Congregation, Calgary JCC, and Pushing the Boundaries who provided a grant which helped to fund this event. This workshop, and dozens of other inclusion initiatives, would not be possible without your UJA gift. To continue Powering programs like this, go online and give today . #Inclusion PoweredbyYOU!
On Friday, August 30, Calgary Jewish Federation hosted the third annual Pride Shabbat Dinner in collaboration with CIJA, CJPAC, Temple B’nai Tikvah, and Calgary Pride.  The evening included opening remarks from Rabbi Glickman, the lighting of the Shabbat candles, and a traditional Kiddush. Additional speakers were comprised of elected officials from across the political spectrum, representatives of Calgary Pride, as well as Jess Burke from CIJA, and Federation's own Danielle Braitman and Adam Silver. After the meal, guests were invited to join Temple B’nai Tikvah for evening services. On Sunday, September 1, Calgary Jewish Federation was also represented in the Calgary Pride Parade, along with CIJA, Temple B’nai Tikvah and other community agencies.
