One of our biggest and most exciting community events of the year is almost here—and we need your help! Volunteer at the 2026 Walk With Israel on Monday, September 7, and play an important role in making this inspiring community celebration a success. We're looking for volunteers to serve as marshals to help direct walkers and ensure safety at crossings, assist at food stations, and lend a hand with various activities at the post-walk carnival. The Walk With Israel begins at 11am and is a joyful celebration that brings together members of the Jewish community, our allies, and the broader Calgary community. It also marks the official kickoff of the 2026 UJA Campaign. Be part of this incredible day—register for the Walk and sign up to volunteer!

On July 14, approximately 60 Holocaust survivors and volunteers of Calgary Jewish Federations Holocaust & Human Rights: Remembrance and Education department gathered for a year-end Survivor and Volunteer Appreciation Tea. After survivors and volunteers spent time enjoying one-another’s company and noshing on scrumptious sandwiches, treats and tea from Karen’s Café, guests enjoyed a multi-lingual musical performance and singalong led by CJF’s Inclusion Manager, Karina Szulc with a surprise song by JFSC’s Antonina Taskaev. We are grateful for the significant contributions of all of the volunteers and donors of the department and are honoured to have spent the afternoon with our community’s remarkable survivors. Special thanks to our partners at JFSC for their collaboration, and for bringing many of the survivors, and to Amy Glassman-Boiko, the Holocaust & Human Rights: Remembrance and Education Coordinator for her wonderful leadership.

Everyone needs a way to beat the heat—especially our littlest ones! Join us on Wednesday, July 29, from 12:30–1:30 pm for a special summer edition of Shalom Baby. We will meet at the front of the Paperny Family JCC (if you are a bit late, join us near the tennis courts). For our Shalom Baby Floating Fun we will have some small kiddie pools and inflatable water mats set up so your babies can enjoy an hour of splashing, floating, socializing, and making the most of the season! Shalom Baby is a free drop-in program, open to all parents and caregivers with infants and toddlers under two years old. Bring your baby's bathing suits, swim diapers, towels, and a change of clothes, and enjoy! For more information, please contact Shirel Barlev.

Did You Know? Caring for one another is at the heart of everything we do. Calgary Jewish Federation partners with organizations like Jewish Family Service Calgary (JFSC) and the Adults 55+ program through Paperny Family JCC to ensure seniors remain connected, engaged, and supported. Through Kesher and the Inclusion Program, Federation creates opportunities for adults with special needs and helps build a Jewish community where every person feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to participate fully in Jewish life. Through education, advocacy, and meaningful programming, we continue to promote belonging and inclusion for all...That's Federation.
