This week, our community gathered together at Temple B'nai Tikvah for Yom HaZikaron to honour fallen IDF soldiers, victims of terrorism, and hostages. A moment of silence was held for the hostages. Thank you to everyone who joined us in remembrance at this powerful, unifying, and meaningful event.

On May 1, we came together at the Paperny Family JCC to celebrate Yom HaAtzmaut, Israel's 77th birthday! The celebration featured an Israeli dance party with saxophonist Shachar Shvalb and our shlichot Yuval and Lihi, Israeli-inspired iced coffee, balloon animals, face painting, a photo booth, Israeli snacks, and more. Jewish joy was felt by all as we celebrated Israel's Independence Day – Am Israel Chai!

Make a splash at the PJ Our Way® Pool Party on Sunday, May 4, from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Paperny Family JCC. If you are in grade 4, 5, 6, or 7, you are invited to join PJOW for an evening of swimming, fun, and friends. Snacks will be provided. Bring your swimsuit and towel, but first, register for this free event!

Did You Know? Calgary Jewish Federation (CJF) helps sustain our community mikveh. Located in the House of Jacob Mikveh Israel synagogue, the mikvah is open to all Jews in our city, regardless of affiliation, membership, or level of observance. It serves as a sacred space for spiritual renewal, lifecycle transitions, and Jewish ritual practice. Throughout history, the mikvah has been so essential to Jewish communal life that halachic authorities have often ruled a community should build a mikvah before even constructing a synagogue.

CJF proudly funds the mikvah's operating costs, ensuring it remains accessible and welcoming. Users are asked to contribute through a one-time or annual fee to help preserve a ritual that has sustained Jewish life for generations.
