Saturday, September 30 marks National Day of Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. To honour this day, the Paperny Family JCC's Arts and Culture Department, powered by Calgary Jewish Federation, hosted Susan Bare Shin Bone, Cultural Facilitator and Indigenous Engagement at Hull Services, for a morning of interactive learning on September 29. Children and adults alike gathered to hear traditional Indigenous stories, songs, and create symbolic artwork that is currently on display at the JCC. The Consulate General of Israel in Toronto and Western Canada, in collaboration with Calgary Jewish Federation is pleased to provide Consular Services in Calgary. Services may be accessed at the Paperny Family JCC on Wednesday, October 25 and Thursday, October 26 from 9:30am to 5:30pm to assist with passport renewal, notary services, life certificate for Bituach Leumi Ministry of Defense, and status registration (birth, marital status, death, etc). All appointments must be booked in advance by completing an online form.

Calgary Jewish Federation is looking for casino volunteers for Monday, October 16 and Tuesday, October 17 at Elbow River Casino. Day and evening shifts are available. Casino funds support community programs and services such as the Mikvah, Inclusion initiatives, and the Holocaust and Human Rights: Remembrance and Education Department. Did you know that UJA partner JFSC (Jewish Family Service Calgary) provides social services to individuals and families based on the values of compassion and social justice? JFSC's services include counseling, mental health support, basic needs, senior care, and more. JFSC helps the community in a variety of ways such as distributing toys, birthday gifts, and school supplies to the children and grandchildren of clients; offering financial coaching; providing food to clients; and on holidays, volunteers and staff assemble and hand deliver packages to seniors and clients.
