On Wednesday, August 28,
parents, extended family, guardians, and educators are invited to join Dr. Peg Dawson for
Striving and Thriving: Strengthening Executive Skills at 6:30pm at
Calgary JCC. Dr. Dawson, top expert in inclusive education, will describe how these skills develop throughout childhood and suggest strategies to help children acquire the critical skills they need to be successful students. This event is free, but registration is required. Childcare will also be available.

Calgary Jewish Federation is pleased to announce the
2019 UJA Campaign Launch will feature opening remarks from Isaac 'Bougie' Herzog, Chairman of the Jewish Agency for Israel. Herzog's career highlights include acting as the Chairman of Israel's Labor party from 2013 to 2017 and opposition leader from 2013 to 2018.

This years' successful
2019 JCC Maccabi Games took place in the host city of
Detroit, Michigan from August 4 to 9. Team Alberta was comprised of 10 incredible athletes from both Calgary and Edmonton. Enthusiastic participants competed in a variety of sports, including hockey, soccer, volleyball, softball, and basketball.
Mazel Tov to the athletes on a job well done, and
Yasher Koach to Barry Pechet, Joey Tappenden, and Mira Feldman for chaperoning the team!
Rhona Shore was recently promoted to
Assistant Executive Director of Calgary JCC. Rhona is a born and raised Calgarian, who grew up in the Jewish community.
She has worked for Calgary JCCfor the past 14 years, starting as the Children’s Program Manager and most recently as Director of Programming. Rhona is looking forward to continuing her Jewish professional journey while building our vibrant community. Mazel Tov Rhona!
