Our PJ Library® Book Nook just got even more colourful! After spending some time atop a ladder, our Canada Summer Jobs student, Casper (you'll be hearing more about him in the coming weeks!) installed a stunning handmade felt alephbet (Hebrew alphabet), lovingly created and donated by Rimon Calgary, a local needlework guild. The PJ Library® Book Nook is a vibrant space where families can explore more than 1,000 Jewish children's books, spark creativity at our large magnetic play wall, curl up in cozy seating, and discover the joy of reading together. It's a favourite destination for the many young visitors who come through the Paperny Family JCC—and now it's even more warm, welcoming, and colourful! A heartfelt thank you to Rimon Calgary for this meaningful gift that will inspire children and families for years to come.

Step back in time and experience a remarkable moment in Alberta’s Jewish history! The opening and dedication of the Montefiore Institute building, which took place on August 17, 1916, will be re-enacted at Heritage Park 110 years after the original ceremony. Two performances will take place on the front porch of the Synagogue building, with seating available on the front lawn and directly across Prince Street. Guests will be treated to songs, poetry, and inspiring words from notable performers and dignitaries from across Canada, bringing this important chapter of Jewish history to life. Calgary Jewish Federation is proud to advise and collaborate with the Little Synagogue on the Prairie Project and Heritage Park in their ongoing efforts to preserve and share Alberta’s Jewish history with the public. Admission to this special event is included with a daily Heritage Park ticket or annual membership.
