More and more cities are getting to know TOM - that's Tikkun Olam Makers - a grassroots movement from Israel. In Calgary, TOM (supported by Federation) is getting ready to start its third annual Makeathon, where designers, engineers, and inventors work with individuals with disabilities to solve their needs. A sold-out busload of 36 seniors participated in a day tour of Calgary’s historic landmarks on July 25th. Organized in partnership by Calgary JCC’s Nessie Hollander and Jewish Family Service Calgary’s Albina Gerov, the tour was led by writer and Federation staff member, Irena Karshenbaum. “Now we have a better understanding of Calgary’s history and its beauty,” said one of the participants after the tour.
The General Assembly (GA) of the Jewish Federations of North America is coming up, November 12-14, in Los Angeles. The event brings together people from communities of all sizes and from all places, and includes inspiring plenaries and innovative breakout sessions. Please join us this year!
