To honour our Black Jewish community members, we want to celebrate Black History Month together. Calgary Jewish Federation is inviting you to view: I am Jewish: Honouring Black Jewish Experiences beginning Wednesday, February 24 at 6:30pm until Monday, March 1. The program will feature experiences and performances here in Canada, and in connection to Israel. This event is presented by the Embassy for Israel in Canada, Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, The Jewish Agency for Israel, Jewish Federations of Canada-UIA, Congregation Machzikei Hadas, Temple Israel, and hosted by the Jewish Federation of Ottawa. Join us on Sunday, February 28 at 11:00am for Shalva - A Butterfly Beyond Borders, a story of successful Inclusion and Tikkun Olam, directly from Jerusalem! Keynote speakers include: Kalman Samuels (founder of Shalva, the Israel Association for the Care and Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities), Sara Samuels (guitarist in the Shalva Band and volunteer at Shalva National Center), and Marilyn Samuels (Professor Emeritus at University of Calgary).
