Thank you to the 4,510 students and educators from across Alberta who joined us in our spring session of our virtual Holocaust Education Symposium. From May 2 to 6 registered schools were given access to an introduction to the Holocaust by Historian David Bercuson and the documentary, The Path to Nazi Genocide. On May 6, 21 classrooms came together on Zoom to watch testimony by Holocaust survivor, Sidney Cyngiser, followed by a live Q & A with his daughter, Francie Cyngiser. Thank you to all those who made this program possible, including Holocaust and Human Rights: Remembrance and Education Co-Chairs, Marnie Bondar and Dahlia Libin, Francie Cyngiser, Mount Royal University, and all of our partners. To learn more about Symposium, contact Marnie and Dahlia.
On May 10, Paperny Family JCC celebrated its first fully in-person Golden Age Luncheon in over two years! Around 55 attendees noshed on a delicious meal prepared by Karen’s Café and Catering and served by JCC staff. Guests also enjoyed musical entertainment by Steven Klevsky. Mazel Tov to Nessie Hollander and her volunteers for organizing such a successful event.
Mazel Tov to Jenny Belzberg and family on the opening of the newly renovated Jenny Belzberg Theatre at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Thanks to a transformational gift from the Belzberg family in honour of community builder and philanthropist, Jenny, Banff Centre’s most important training and performing arts venue will continue to serve audiences, artists, creators, and the teams who support their work well into the future.
