Along with thousands of other charitable organizations who depend on Blackbaud database software as an important administrative tool, Calgary Jewish Federation recently became aware of a potential breach to some of Blackbaud's global systems. We immediately followed up with their senior management, and their Cyber Security team –independently validated by third-party forensics experts and law enforcement – confirming that Calgary Jewish Federation was not involved in the security incident in any way. We take the stewardship and protection of donor and program participant information very seriously, and will continue to ensure we employ the most secure systems and processes available.
The P2G committee of Calgary Jewish Federation is pleased to have received a grant from the Elize & Lilian Zuidema Fund of Jewish Community Foundation of Calgary to support the renovation and equipping of the Margaliot Youth Centre in our partner region in Israel. As mayor Benny Ben-Muvhar says, "The Youth Centre is the only place in the community where all of the young people meet daily for activities, discussion, and social interaction. The youth in Margoliot cope with dangerous adolescent phenomena, and therefore, their attendance and participation in activities held at the youth centre under the guidance of a youth activities coordinator is very significant during this period of their lives."
