Keeping our community informed, inspired, and connected to Jewish life in Delaware and the Brandywine Valley, in Israel, and around the world.
CEO message
to the community
Friend!

Good morning. Last week's parsha, Lech Lecha - go forth, teaches us about Abraham's journey from the familiar to the unfamiliar, a leap into the unknown built on his trust with G-d. One interpretation is, "Go with yourself" - your beliefs, your way of life and your faith.

This past Friday night I attended Shabbat services at Congregation Beth Emeth where community Shlicha , Daniella Buchshtaber, delivered a meaningful D'var Torah. She discussed her personal journey leaving the familiar (Israel) to the unfamiliar (Delaware). In addition, three members from our community including Suzanne Grant, Robin Kauffman Saran and Connie Sugarman departed for Israel to attend the Jewish Federations of North America General Assembly and Pre-GA mission. They proudly represented our community on an international landscape.

Continuing the theme of journeys, I traveled downstate on Tuesday to meet with a first-year Board member who is also a congregant of Seaside Jewish Community in Rehoboth Beach. On Thursday I met another first-year board member in Dover who is also a member of Congregation Beth Sholom. I am pleased that the Federation Board of Directors is geographically represented across Delaware and the Brandywine Valley as well as inclusive of our seven state-wide synagogues. We Grow Stronger TOGETHER!

On Wednesday I attended a Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement (DANA) workshop on the value of Outcomes Measurement. Adhering to a set of processes and procedures for assessing achievement on a regular basis helps improve program effectiveness and base sound decisions about future programming. This workshop was underwritten by JP Morgan Chase & Co.

Our Facilities Management Board (FMB) met on Thursday morning to review active projects as well as plan for upcoming initiatives. Thanks to the ongoing collaboration between Federation and our agencies, we are able to maintain a welcoming and safe campus.

Later this morning I will be meeting with our beneficiary agency Executive Directors as part of our monthly Round Table. This invaluable interaction allows us to work better together in fulfilling the needs of our vibrant community we are fortunate to serve.

Thank you for including Federation in your respective Jewish journey.

We Grow Stronger TOGETHER.

Shabbat Shalom ,
Seth J. Katzen
