Light Candles at 5:43 PM

Weekly highlights that keep our community informed, inspired, and connected to Jewish life in Delaware and the Brandywine Valley, in Israel, and around the world.

Dear Rachel,

Good morning. In 1987, Congress declared March as National Women's History Month in perpetuity. A special Presidential Proclamation is issued every year which honors the extraordinary achievements of American women.

Monday, March 3, 2025

A terror attack this morning carried out in Haifa's bus terminal left Hassan Karim Dahamsheh, a 70 year old resident of Kafr Kanna, an Arab town in the Galilee, dead and four others wounded. We pray for the swift recovery of the injured and offer our deepest condolences to Hassan’s family.

We thank Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s decision to expedite $4 billion in arms transfers to Israel to ensure the Jewish state’s ability to defend itself and maintain a qualitative military edge in the wider Middle East.

The Jewish Agency for Israel's Board of Governors meeting kicked off in Jerusalem today, uniting Jewish leaders from around the world under the theme "The Time is Now." The focus was the urgent realities facing Israel and Jewish communities, from advocating for the hostages’ return to strengthening terror-affected families and combating the surge in antisemitism. This is a moment of responsibility and action. Thanks to community leader and Board member, Josh Schoenberg, who attended the meetings in-person and proudly represented our community in Israel.

Tuesday, March 4, 2025

I attended my monthly Intermediate Federation CEO zoom meeting with colleagues from around the country, coordinated by Jewish Federations of North America. It provides a platform and forum for shared learning opportunities and best practices in the field.

I also virtually attended several sessions from the Nonprofit Marketing Summit to learn more about best practices, AI, donor acquisition and retention strategies, and generational giving. The theme of the three day conference was EVOLVE.

Wednesday, March 5, 2025

I participated in a Peer Consulting session with Jewish communal professionals from across the country as part of the Leading Edge Leadership Cohort that I was previously selected to be part of this pilot comprised of 14 executives.

Congratulations to community leader, Sissy Aerenson, who will be serving on the Jewish Federations of North America’s National Women’s Philanthropy (NWP) Board! Sissy will represent our community on a national scale and assist in building flourishing communities locally, nationally, and internationally.
