Like so many who come to the City of Angels with dreams of becoming a star, I was hatched in a tropical climate and spent most of my youth on one foot. Despite LA’s glory, homesickness can sporadically settle and I find myself desperate to find a place that encapsulates my youth’s tropical bounty, and how I’ve found it in a beautiful A-Frame cusping Beverly Hills.
This masterpiece, built in 1965, sees its founders’ (and current owners’) vision to transport the atmosphere of island life from their beloved Hawaii to the 90210 come to fruition, from the tent-like simplicity of its architectural inspiration to the natural woods and stones that cover the floors and walls. The ingenious use of glass blurs the lines between interior and exterior, an illusion so well executed that one can’t help but stretch their neck to the sun and inhale the all-enveloping nature’s sweetness before switching standing legs and driving down Rodeo with a mouthful of shrimp.
