Central Virginia is asking people in business to provide feedback so resources can be offered that best serve the small business community. Any business service provider, owner, former owner, or prospective business owner is asked to take the survey.

Community Investment Collaborative and Venture Central, with support from a GO Virginia and The Good People Research Company, are conducting a survey for the Regional Entrepreneurial Investment (REI) Strategy. The survey will be followed by in-person meetings with diverse rural and urban representatives. DEADLINE 2/1.

In addition to her role with Central Virginia SBDC, Rebecca is now the Managing Director of Venture Central, Inc.. Venture Central's vision is to make Central Virginia an internationally respected entrepreneurial community. The goal is to accomplish this through supportive and collaborative work with our region's entrepreneurs and entrepreneur support organizations.


Venture Central is home to 434.co, and is currently supporting the region's Regional Entrepreneurship Investment Strategy grant (mentioned above) and the U.S. EDA Build to Scale grant. The Build to Scale grant, Diversify-Connect-Fund, seeks to diversify our region's investor pool, access to capital, and explore funding options for entrepreneurs. CV SBDC is hiring a part-time Business Advisor!


This position will provide assistance, coaching, and strategic direction for new business starts and growing businesses, as well as support economic development activities in the Fork Union area. Training and support are provided. Business experience or degree required.

Corporate Transparency Act Reminder to File


Business owners are required to to disclose their ownership information to the federal government in order to be in compliance with the Beneficial Ownership Information Reporting Rule (BOIR).


Current small business owners (ie. those who started their business prior to 1/1/24) are required to disclose their ownership information to the federal government no later than December 31, 2024.


New business entities starting up in 2024 will have 90 days to complete the BOIR

process after filing with the State Corporation Commission (SCC).
