HISTORY OF LOGGING IN THE ADIRONDACKS

Join us in welcoming Dick Nason, logging historian and retired forester with Finch Paper. He will share his knowledge about the fascinating history of the logging industry throughout the Adirondack Park and how the Feeder Canal impacted the development of industry and commerce in Glens Falls.

Fishing Clinic & Family Fun Day

LEARN TO FISH FOR FREE!

Organized and conducted by NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and the Feeder Canal Alliance. In addition to casting a rod and catching fish, participants can join in an eco-friendly art project and explore accessible trails near the waterway.

Gear, bait and instruction are included in the clinic (limited to 40 participants*). Bring your kids, gather your friends, and join us to celebrate the sport of fishing.

  • Event is FREE & open to the public
  • All ages & abilities welcome!
  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Healthy snacks & water provided
  • Accessible parking spaces & port-a-johns
  • No fishing permit required (day-use permit included with registration)

*NYSDEC has 40 sets of gear to loan. When registering, consider sharing a fishing pole among your family members so more people can participate. We anticipate over 150 people during the course of the event.

We are excited to share that Hannaford has selected the Feeder Canal Alliance to benefit from the Community Bag Program throughout March, 2026. The Hannaford Community Bag Program makes it easy for shoppers to contribute to their local communities.

Reusable Bags

Every time a $2.50 reusable Community Bag is purchased at the Hannaford located at 175 Broad Street, Glens Falls in March, $1 will be donated to FCA. This is a great way to broaden awareness of our mission and help our efforts.

Celebrate Earth Day by joining Parks Trails New York, NYS Canal Corporation, and thousands of volunteers to clean up trails, greenways, and parks across NY State's canal system.
