Summer School Success
Summer School Principals Joe Taylor and Matt Wallace, and Summer School teachers focused on helping students recover from unfinished learning that resulted from the pandemic. During this past summer program, 89 percent of the students who were auto enrolled attended and 87 percent of those students earned credit. Summer School teachers, principals and staff focused on unfinished learning, social-emotional learning and enrichment opportunities, significantly improving student outcomes.

Thank you to our teachers, support staff, buildings and grounds staff, and everyone else involved for making this past Summer School program a success. Registration is open for Summer School 2022; more information on offerings can be found on the Summer School website.
DHS School Chest | HPHS Charity Drive
For over 50 years, each November heralds the arrival of the much-anticipated philanthropic effort known as School Chest. School Chest is a packed, three-week long effort led by DHS Student Council that unites the student body, staff, local businesses and the surrounding Deerfield community toward the goal of raising funds and awareness for that year’s beneficiary, selected through a vote by the student body.

This year’s beneficiary was Paws for Patrick. Paws for Patrick is a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting young people with Emotional Support Animals and Therapy Dogs to aid them as they live with mental illness.

In late November, School Chest Co-Chairs Jordan Pinsky and Jessica Lew hosted the reveal announcing that DHS raised $105,921.35 for Paws for Patrick.

Thank you to our community members, students, teachers and staff who donated and/or gave their time and energy to supported this year's School Chest Fundraiser.

HPHS will kick off Charity Drive on February 23 to support the Danny Did Foundation.

AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award
Deerfield High School has earned the College Board AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science Principles (CSP). Schools honored with the AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award have expanded young women's access in AP computer science courses. Deerfield High School is one of 760 schools from across the country to be recognized in the category of AP CSP.

In order to earn this award, schools must have either 50 percent or higher female exam taker representation in one or both AP computer science courses, or a percentage of female computer science exam takers that meets or exceeds the school’s female population.

Congratulations to our female AP computer science students and their teachers for this amazing achievement and taking steps towards gender equality in computer science and STEM education.
