Fall Things to Do

Whether you like to spend your October days indoors or outdoors, SoIN has lots of opportunities for fall fun. Grab your hiking gear and visit a state park, Clark State Forest, or spend the afternoon with Scottish Highland cattle at Dylan Farms in Charlestown. If you prefer indoor entertainment, check out shows like “Accomplice” and “Elephant & Piggie's 'We Are in a Play'" at Derby Dinner Playhouse. Grab some friends and head to one of SoIN’s distilleries or explore the craft beer scene.

Scenic SoIN Passport

Get rewarded for exploring SoIN with the Scenic SoIN Passport. This new digital passport features 14 idyllic Southern Indiana locations for passholders to explore, most of which are free to enter!


Check out places like New Albany’s Mansion Row, Ashland Park in Clarksville, or the Mount Saint Francis Sanctuary. Check in at 10 locations to win a custom print by Graphic Designer, Illustrator and SoIN native Matthew Clinard. Each check-in earns entries toward the grand prize grand prize drawing, which includes an overnight stay at Stone Creek Cabin, exploring SoIN at The Woods ATV Adventures, a clay shooting experience at The Sporting Club at the Farm and a gift card to the newly opened Bicycle Station.

The Still Family & Charles Nalle at the Carnegie


Louisville artist Mark Priest has spent years researching the Underground Railroad and uses drawings, paintings, and other mediums to uncover and retell the powerful and poignant narratives surrounding slavery, especially the stories of freedom seekers. See Priest’s exhibit, “The Underground Railroad: The Still Family & Charles Nalle” on display at the Carnegie Center for Art & History in New Albany now through November 11.

Have a spook-tacular time at Literally, A Haunted House, the Culbertson Mansion’s annual haunted house on Fridays and Saturdays now through October 28. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets cost $18 per person.

Enjoy a spooky stroll through Downtown New Albany during a New Albany Wicked Walk! October walks include special Friday the 13th tours and full moon tours on October 28. Tickets are $25 + tax.

Head to The Woods ATV Adventures for Fright Night in Starlight … if you dare! Enjoy an ATV shuttle into the forest where you can enjoy a haunted hike, food truck, cash bar and music on Fridays and Saturdays now through October 28. $30 admission per person.

Don’t be late for Charlestown’s Trail & Treat on October 27. This year’s trail features artwork inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Interact with characters from the movie during Trunk or Treat, then enjoy the movie in the park.

Enjoy FREE Halloween fun along the New Albany shoreline during the City of New Albany’s All Hallows Eve Celebration on October 28. The event features a trunk or treat, ghost stories, inflatables and a magician!

Enjoy family fun during Depot Days: Fall Family Fest at The Depot in Jeffersonville on October 21! Part of the NoCo Arts and Cultural District, this funky event space will have pumpkin painting, yoga and mimosas, inflatables and more.

Step aboard the Belle of Louisville for seasonal fun! October cruises include Ghosts on the River, a Murder Mystery Cruise and a Halloween Kids Cruise with crafts, trick-or-treating and dancing.

Check out Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom now through October 29. The theme park has been transformed into a whimsical wonderland filled with larger-than-life glowing pumpkin sculptures, trick-or-treating and carnival games.

Cross the river for Iroquois Park’s Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular now through October 31. The show runs daily from dusk to 11 p.m. and closes at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Ticket prices vary.
