Felician Village Volunteers are the Best!
National Volunteer Week was celebrated
April 17-23. The volunteer department hosted a banquet on Thursday, April 21st, in the Wisconsin Room to honor our wonderful volunteers who donate their time, talent and passions to Felician Village. Pete Stuntz and Loryn Schleis were honored for their length of service, both serving as Felician Village volunteers for over twenty years. Barb Cook was recognized as the recipient of the 2022 Felician Village Volunteer of the Year. Part of Barb's nomination said, "Barb shares her passion and love of music with residents, staff and the community. Barb recently worked to develop and teach a hand chime choir with our independent living residents. She is also a wonderful ambassador for our membership program, encouraging members to attend social and education events and have FUN."
Thank you to all of our amazing Felician Village volunteers!

Easter Activities Around Campus
"In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it; you'll be the grandest lady in the Easter parade." Court residents made Easter bonnets during Holy Week with a special thanks to a generous donation by a Court resident's daughter who also helped at the activity.

Easter Egg Hunt at The Gardens
The annual Gardens Easter Egg Hunt had residents looking high and low, in every nook and cranny.
Easter is a time of year it's perfectly safe to put all your eggs in one basket.
On Good Friday, Villa residents had a great time dying Easter eggs bright spring colors. The colorful eggs were then served on Easter Day. A perfect Easter snack!
Villa residents also decorated paper eggs to decorate their doors and living areas.
The Return of Baseball Season!
Take me out to the ballgame, buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks! Culinary Services planned a special "Brewers Home Opener" lunch on April 14th.
Staff were encouraged to dress in their Brewers attire as we welcomed baseball back to the American Family Field.
At The Gardens, residents were treated to a surprise sundae in miniature baseball helmet. Go Brew Crew!
Spring Cleaning for Your Brain
The calendar says it is spring even though our Manitowoc weather hasn’t been very spring-like yet. One of the traditional duties of homeowners has each spring are the annual spring house cleaning chores. In addition to our homes, we can also spring clean our brains.
Dementia Training
On April 20, FV Nurse Educator, Joan Smaglik, gave an intensive and interactive four hour dementia training to a group of caregivers and more.
The group from assisted living were supportive and interested in understanding the signs and behaviors of our residents who live with dementia and Alzheimer's.
Caregiver Mary said, "I took residents to the Villa SNOEZELEN room recently. They were so interested in the surroundings and activities of the sensory room. It was so neat to see how engaged they were."
The SNOEZELEN room was provided by the West Foundation along with other donors. Dementia training continues to be funded by a faithful friend, Dee Ann Keip, whose interest lies in educating staff on dementia.
Dee Ann's gift, Joan's education, and a great group of employees invested in each other for the benefit of our residents.
