Mission & Heritage Week

During October, we celebrated Mission and Heritage Week with the theme: “Widening the Tent for Charism and Mission.”

The image of a tent reminds us that our earthly life is part of a larger spiritual journey. As we travel this path together, rooted in faith, love, and mutual care, we find strength in the enduring truth that God is always present, both within us and among us.

In the Hebrew Scriptures, tents were essential shelters for nomadic people like Abraham and Sarah, Moses, Miriam, and Aaron—figures who journeyed through harsh landscapes in search of food, water, and safety. These tents symbolized resilience, adaptability, and the impermanence of life in times of drought, famine, and exile.

The prophet Isaiah offers a powerful invitation: “Enlarge the space for your tent… lengthen your ropes and make firm your pegs.” This vision challenges us today to widen our own tents, to expand our welcome, deepen our solidarity, and anchor our mission more firmly in God’s abiding love.

Throughout the week, we embraced many opportunities to reflect on the heart of our ministry and to live more fully into the call to “widen our tent.”

We celebrated the sacred work of our hands with a special hand blessing. Every day, our hands bring comfort, care, and compassion to others, continuing the legacy of the Felician Sisters in service and love.

Mission & Heritage Spin the Wheel! Residents and staff had a blast testing their knowledge during Felician Village Trivia and spinning the wheel for a prize.

Staff, residents and the community gathered for a Pet Blessing led by a Franciscan Friar. All pets were welcomed, including the beloved furry friends of St. Mary’s!

It was a beautiful reminder that our pets are blessings to us, gifts of God’s creation who bring joy, comfort, companionship and unconditional love.

Felician Village staff brought the fun and spirit to our Mission & Heritage Scavenger Hunt! From snapping selfies to living out our core values in action, the energy and teamwork around campus was incredible!

Throughout the entire Mission and Heritage Week a pup tent was set up outside the Blessed Angela Chapel for residents, staff and visitors to donate items to the Lakeshore Humane Society.

We are PAW-sitively grateful for all

those who donated!

Homecoming Parade

It was fun October Friday night at Felician Village! Residents loved watching the Manitowoc Lincoln High School Homecoming Parade roll right past our campus. Thank you to everyone who stopped to visit our game and snack booth and our student volunteers who helped us. The night was full of smiles, cheers, and plenty of school spirit all around!

Benson, the service dog from Roncalli Catholic Schools, came to visit Court residents in October.

The best part of the human slot machine? The laughter shared between St. Mary's residents and special guests. Moments like these are the real jackpot.

Family Game Night at The Gardens

Laughter, friendly competition, and lots of smiles filled the evening as residents and their families came together for a night of games, prizes and connection.

Brightening the Day, One Bloom at a Time

Our Life Enrichment Supervisor, Zoe, started one October morning by picking fresh flowers for residents to enjoy. Miss Jenny loved arranging them with Zoe and shared that it, "helped wake up her brain!"

Maino Presentation

John Maino visited the FV Campus and shared his captivating stories from his conversations with World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans, along with his own firsthand experiences from the field.

He also reminisced with resident, Pearl, about his time at WFRV TV. Residents loved his talk! Many said they could have listened to him much longer. John generously donated a copy of his four books to FV. They will be a popular read!

Alaska Presentation

It was a pleasure to welcome Mary, daughter of Gardens residents, who shared her amazing experiences living with the tribe on St. Paul Island, Alaska.

What was planned for a one-hour presentation quickly stretched into two, filled with stories and questions.

From daily life, like meals and education to the island's rich history and seal harvesting traditions. Mary gave such a meaningful glimpse into life on St. Paul Island.

Trick or Treat

Trick-or-treaters galore!

Felician Village welcomed students from Bethany Lutheran School (WELS), Jefferson Elementary School and St. John's Lutheran Church & School - Newtonburg to trick or treat throughout our campus.
