Employee Appreciation Day

September 1 was Employee Appreciation Day at Felician Village. It was an opportunity to thank our employees for all their hard work over the last several months. The Holla food truck was there offering a variety of delicious lunch items. There was ice cream, yard games and many took advantage of the brave souls that volunteered for the dunk tank - thanks to Frank Soltys, Felician Village President/CEO, Mike Miller, Director of Environmental Services, and Jeremy Denor, Director of Assisted Living, for not being afraid of getting wet.

Celebrating years of service at Felician Village

Scott Zeman celebrates a milestone work anniversary, 20 years of employment at Felician Village. He started working in the FV Culinary Services department in 2002 and has held the positions of prep cook,

assistant cook and currently is a culinary aide at St. Mary’s.

Scott commented, “I enjoy what I do and the people I work with."

Michael Hardow is celebrating his 17 year work anniversary this month as well. Michael has spent all 17 years in the Maintenance Department.

Thank you Scott and Michael for your dedication and hard work!

Botanical Mats

The Gardens residents had a great time with this unique craft - botanical mats.

The mats were made/sewn by resident Geraldine Barnes and the flowers were donated by The Rustic Rose and The Wild Iris. Thank you!

Residents hammered the pigment from flowers/leaves to create beautiful smashed flower table mats.

WHO IS OUR NEIGHBOR?

Jesus said the greatest commandment was to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love our neighbor as we love ourselves.

Who is our neighbor and how exactly are we called to love them? In the parable of the Good Samaritan (read Luke 10:25-37 for the full story), Jesus stretches the boundaries of what it means to be a neighbor. In Jesus’ day, Jews despised Samaritans. Yet, in this story, Jesus lifts up a Samaritan as an example of a good neighbor who showed compassion and mercy for a stranger.

We may not understand the rift between Jews and Samaritans, but we have plenty of divisions in our world today that prove how challenging it can be to love others.

End of Summer Bash

During September The Court, The Villa and St. Mary's enjoyed an End of Summer Bash.

On separate days, residents and their family/friends gathered outside for Bingo, lunch and entertainment. Thank you to all who attended.

A special shout out to Tim Reinemann, Life Enrichment Supervisor, and his staff, for making this great event possible. Also, our wonderful culinary department for the delicious meal.

Walk to End ALZ

A team from Felician Village participated in the Manitowoc-Two Rivers Walk to End ALZ on Saturday, September 17.

While great strides are being made around the world in this challenging field of health care, the Walk to End ALZ helps raise awareness and funds in hopes to find a cure for Alzheimer’s. A BIG thank you to all who participated and donated to this great event! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day.

You can continue to donate to the Felician Village Team until December 31, 2022. Visit: https://www.alz.org/walk. Click FIND A TEAM and type FELICIAN VILLAGE.

Felician Village honored to be part of "Helen Day"

On September 13, Felician Village was honored to receive a generous donation from a family member of beloved resident, Helen, who had passed away a few months ago. Helen's daughter, Kathy, shared a beautiful Facebook post that describes this donation wonderfully.

"A huge shout out to my cousin, Wendy!

Wendy dubbed yesterday 'Helen Day' and celebrated it by donating 29 boxes of “Bath & Body Works” products to the Felician Village residents. She wanted to partner with the Felician Village, because the staff took such amazing care of her Aunt Helen. Wendy purchased these gifts during a special employee-only sale. This girl has the biggest heart and is all about making others feel special.

What does Wendy want people to know? “This is a gift from Helen. She was a gift to us and it’s fun to pass it on. I think it would have made her smile.”

The Felician Village plans to gift these amazing products to the residents at Christmas. We are so grateful for our past and present residents and their families. Thank you for all you do!
