Greetings!
PCSC has begun project planning for the improvement of our fine facility.
We have a variety of specialized needs to include a custom entry gate with automatic opener. A card reader system that will open the gate as well as log who is coming and going. Now if you are reading this do not get alarmed or excited that we are trying to change to much. We have proposals from outside contractors but we would rather club members who are so inclined to do this type of work have a chance to bid these projects.
As I previously stated we are looking for a custom gate manufacturer, a card reader system, as well as some electrical work.
and we will get you in touch with the project leaders.
That’s all for now please stay safe.

March Board Meeting Highlights . . .
Keith Eberly gave the Board an update on the ongoing planning for the Club Picnic, which was reported in last month’s highlights. The tentative date set for this event is early June, when we can expect pleasant weather for outdoor family activities. Games for all ages are being considered, and Keith encouraged the members to send suggestions of what they might enjoy. Members and their families, along with guests, are alerted to put this gathering in their early summer plans. More details will be communicated as they are developed, and ideas are solicited for what you would like to see in the planning for this social event of the year!
The March 19 Swap Meet was a rousing success, and thanks to George’s table arrangement, vendors reserved 43 tables that were packed with firearms, ammo, and lots of those “gotta have” accessories. Member James Nance of Onward Arms in Azle donated a brand-new Heritage Arms .22 with simulated black ivory grips for a drawing that was won by Larry Fanning. I personally went home with a new-to-me rifle that was irresistible, but in my defense, I have been known to have a weakness for Winchesters. If you missed it, don’t despair, as there is the June 18 Meet that will be here before you know it. No other gun show allows you to test out a new firearm on a nearby range before you decide to buy it, a good deal in anyone’s opinion!
The shotgun Club Shoot on March 26 was well attended, and Ruben scheduled some beautiful weather for the event. More than 40 shooters showed up, heavily laden with lots of beautiful shotguns and bags full of shells. We used every shotgun range at the Club, bustin’ clays on the skeet, trap, 5 stand, and sporting clays course. I was in a team with a couple of new members who shot trap for the first time, and don’t you know they beat my score . . . by a lot! This is a great way for members to try out some of the shotgun disciplines they may not have experience with to see if they have a new favorite. Special thanks to the Shotgun Group for organizing and coordinating a fun outing and, of course, grillin’ some great hotdogs for the appetites we worked up.
You can see that March has been full of activities that appeal to lots of our members, no matter what shooting sport they prefer. Check the calendar in this newsletter for more to look forward to in April.
Stay Safe,
Daniel

Read Here from our own George Admire about the March ---
The swap meet went off well today. A good number of vendors, some regulars and some new vendors. The door count was up a tad to about 90. Had plenty of help for setup and takedown. Big thanks to all those who helped. A thank you to James Nance of Onward Arms, who supplied a Heritage revolver for the raffle !
Thanks,
George Admire

Pistol Match Information - Jim Groce
|

Hey Gents !
The pistol match for March started out a tad nippy at about 27 degrees. The cold didn't faze this crew though. Things warmed up nicely fairly quickly to another great day.
These 13 PCSC members just shrug off the cold to shoot the pistol match every month.
Stage 1 was designed as something different - two strings of fire: one using your backup gun (BUG gun) or your everyday carry gun (EDC), and the next one using a revolver. The emphasis was to get out those little guns we all carry and rarely shoot. The stage design interspersed No Shoot targets among the Shoot targets to test the shooter's abilities for appropriate shot placement. The final twist was "everyone gets firsts before anyone gets seconds," meaning that each threat target was to receive one hit before repeating the string's shoot-the-threat cycle for the final hit. Quite a bit to keep in mind while shooting against the clock.
Stage 1 presented a limited shoot area per target while constricting shooting angles. Six shots doesn't sound too tough, unless your little S&W J-frame only holds 5 shots and you gotta reload, like mine did.
Stage 2 was pretty straight forward with its just-shoot-everything-in-sight as quickly as you can. There only two hard spots for this stage. One was to start the stage by shooting the orange clay pigeon in the middle of the No Shoot target cleanly. The other was to spin the little green windmill target off to the right on the plate rack to complete the stage. Easy peezy, right? Uh, yeah, no. The starting sight picture for that orange clay took more than one shooter by surprise and rewarded them with a No Shoot hit penalty.
Note that the plate rack has five knock down targets in addition to the windmill. Only the three round orange targets were required to be knocked down of the five, testing the shooter's know-your-target memory.
Stage 3 couldn't be much simpler with its 2 to body and 2 to head on the six targets. Sure, shooting these in tactical order required the shooter to go from front to back and to the right for the first five targets before swinging way back to the left to pick the last target in the back. But the difference maker for this stage was "PCC's Allowed."
Those who used a Pistol Caliber Carbine dominated Stage 3 with better hits and much faster times. And that's the formula for winning hits points (points per second).
Stage 4 was the simplist stage I believe we've ever had for a match: six targets, three strings of one head shot per target, and no clock. The stage used a par time of 10 seconds per string. The shooter can take as much time as he desires. And, yet, this stage of bullseye still was challenging.
Taking your time shouldn't be a hard thing to accomplish. There's no rush, no clock, get that great sight picture and just wait for the trigger break.
Everyone appeared to have a good time. We've got a few other ideas to keep the pistol matches fresh. Hope to see you at one soon.

In Closing - Spring Turkey
|
|
Cabin fever can strike deep and be long lasting, in North Texas ! For those the did not fish during the Winter and early Spring, we are ready to get out and have a thanksgiving in Spring this April 2 and that is no Fool ! My brother and I got the ranch ready for Spring Turkey hunting last weekend and look forward to hunting and guiding this weekend ! I hope many of you will get out and enjoy this April weekend whether hunting or not. You know our range is all up and ready to go, and all it needs is you !
On on the business side of things, Byron Miller tells me there is another bid forthcoming on the automated gate project. This will be awesome. We have discussed the gate upgrade for better than ten years is my take and we have never placed it high enough on our list of project importance to make it happen. I agree now that it may very well be time for carded and recorded access to our property. For the convenience, durability and recordability, I am on member that is now believing it is time for this maintenance / improvement.
I am asking here for information about Parker County 4H activities information. The Bustin Pumpkins information may be decided soon. We certainly want to help promote that event, Thanks ! Email me at chuckgarrett@msn.com with flyer, date, etc ! Thanks.
