Hi Fellowship Family!
We are 7 days into the new year - how are those resolutions? Did you make any? I know many treat New Year's resolutions as a "reset" button - restarting the healthy eating, picking up that habit, deciding that this year will be the one that those projects finally get completed or books get read. I have to admit that while I like the idea of New Year's Resolutions and make them myself, I feel like when I break my resolutions all I do is beat myself up more than I already do. Am I alone in feeling like this?
Instead of making resolutions about physical self-improvement, I'm making a resolution to be kinder...to myself. To stop beating myself up about every. little. thing. These words from author Sarah Bessey are rather poignant and speak to my resolutions for the new year:
Gentle with your words to yourself.
Gentle with your expectations.
Gentle with your demands.
Gentle with your soul.
Gentle with your plans, your time, your hours, your sleep.
Gentle with your partner, your kids, your people.
Gentle with your needs, your wants, your desires.
Gentle with your mind and your body.
Be excessively gentle, my friend.
You don’t have to earn this.
You are beloved by God, our Mother.
Let Them love you as a mother loves her baby."
Between that and my Star Word for this year, I'm excited to see what God has in store - I pray for the same excitement and anticipation on this new year for you and your family!
This Sunday, we will mark Jesus's baptism during worship as we remember our own. We will also ordain and install the next class of elders while expressing gratitude to those elders who complete their current terms. As the entire session meets tomorrow to pray, discern, and plan for the new year, I ask that you keep them in prayer throughout the weekend.
Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday, whether in-person or online,
Pastor Kathryn

Sunday (Virtual) Worship Information
Sunday worship is in person, but will continue to be available through Facebook Live and Zoom.

To join by phone, call: (646)558-8656
When you dial in you will be asked for a meeting ID number: enter 847 7231 7808. The password is: 658602. Depending on the time you dial in, you may not hear anything to start with. When the Prelude begins, you will hear audio.
To access worship by Zoom via computer, please click here.
(If you'd prefer to access the worship service through the Zoom website, please enter Meeting ID 847 7231 7808 - the password is: 658602.)

As efforts are made behind-the-scenes to start 2022 on a new-and-fresh note, one of the ways the Outreach Committee is asking for the Fellowship Family to participate is by joining Realm. Realm is an online platform of the church’s database that provides for better communication within and through the Fellowship Family, including an online directory, church calendar, and an ability to both RSVP for upcoming events and give online. While the Outreach Committee is going to be hard at work in helping get everyone on board, you can opt-in and complete your online profile now!

Wondering what to do with all of those grocery shopping bags? The Missions committee will be collecting “gently used” plastic grocery bags for Backpack Beginnings. Please bring any you don’t use to church with you, leaving them on the Missions table in the Dogwood Lobby closest to the double doors leading towards the classrooms.

Conversation about 13th on the 13th
|
Did you know that our nation contains just 5% of the world’s population and 25% of its prisoners? The documentary 13th also reveals an alarming statistic: One out of four African American males will serve prison time at one point or another in their lives.
The City of Greensboro invites you to a community discussion about the realities of today’s prison system in America as highlighted by the Netflix original documentary 13th.
There are two opportunities to participate in a discussion coming up this Thursday, January 13:
- Session 1: 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
- Session 2: 6:00 pm– 8:00 pm
If you are interested in participating in this discussion, please click here.
All are invited to this community discussion - make sure to watch the documentary, available on Netflix, prior to the discussion.

Macaroni and Cheese Special
Hey Fellowship!
We all love a good deal, right? Harris Teeter is running a special sale on Kraft Macaroni and Cheese! If you buy 10 boxes, it only costs $9. That is about 90 cents a box! What a great way to feed folks in our community a high quality meal that costs us so little! The catch is, it's only good until January 12th. Let's fill up Fellowship's Urban Ministry box for our next Food Collection Sunday.
