The pictures may seem a bit tone-deaf.
Believe me: I struggled in deciding whether or not I should post them and share them in light of what took place on Tuesday in Uvalde.
But I wanted to make sure that I was able to express my gratitude to you, my Fellowship family, for allowing me permission to work remotely this week in NYC. Austin attended a conference this week and asked if I could join him so we could enjoy NYC nightlife. And enjoy, we did! Fancy dinners, touring the city, a Yankee game, the Music Man on Broadway, and Central Park - an amazing way to celebrate our 14th anniversary a month early. So, I'm grateful to this congregation for the flexibility, as well as to Fred and Carollynn for holding down the fort with the kids so we could, indeed, enjoy the week without worry.
But I did worry. I worried about Avis, her classmates at Sternberger following the tragedy at Robb Elementary School. I got so preoccupied by the news reports on Tuesday evening that Austin had to remind me to put my phone down, look him in the eye, and take a deep breath. There was a part of me that wanted to hop on a plane immediately and run to my children and hug them. While there were many postings on Facebook about the day's tragic events, there were two that stuck out to me that I want to share:

This is the second - a prayer that I shared on our church's Facebook page. A prayer from Rev. Dr. Diane Moffett, President and Executive Director of the Presbyterian Mission Agency:

As you read this email, I have returned to Greensboro, I have hugged my children, smothering them with kisses and reminding them how much we love them. And then I think about the letters I need to write to our lawmakers, asking for a change. How long, O Lord?
On Sunday, we will worship together again, in person or online. We will (again) pray for a community devastated by a mass shooting. And we try to figure out a way through this together, as a Fellowship Family. While I know many of you may be traveling for the holiday weekend, I hope you will be able to carve out an hour at 9:30 to join us, no matter where you are.
Until Sunday,
Pastor Kathryn
p.s. June is full with wonderful events here at FPC. I encourage you to read about all of them below - and invite someone to check them out with you!

Wondering what to do with all of those grocery shopping bags? The Missions committee will be collecting “gently used” plastic grocery bags for Backpack Beginnings. Please bring any you don’t use to church with you, leaving them on the Missions table in the Dogwood Lobby closest to the double doors leading towards the classrooms.
