What a wonderful week! Thank you to all who attended worship last Sunday and made our program year's Kickoff Sunday 2022-2023 a success. The potluck didn't disappoint either! We discussed the Fall Semester at FPC, as well as how to use the Realm platform to stay up-to-date on FPC's calendar, access the directory, as well register for upcoming events. If you're still of unsure of how to gain access, please let me know.
Basking in the memory of the wonderful Sunday, Monday morning had me flying to Denver to spend a few days at the Highland Camp and Conference Center, a PC(USA)-affiliated camp, to represent the Association of Partners in Christian Education (APCE) to the denomination. APCE, along with other organizations that are a part of the Office of Christian Formation of the Presbyterian Mission Agency, discussed plans, dreams, and visions for where God is calling our organizations. I am incredibly grateful to this Fellowship Family for supporting me in supporting APCE and the denomination by giving me this time to work away from the office for a few days.
I'm excited to be back with you on Sunday, when we will begin a four-part sermon series called "Follow Jesus". Utilizing a churchwide curriculum, we will focus on different aspects of this topic not only in worship, but in our education hour as well, which formally begins this Sunday shortly after worship concludes. If you're curious what Part One holds, the picture at the top should give a bit of a hint.
There are so many exciting events and programs coming up in the next few weeks, including a WVAR event tomorrow, Wednesday Wisdom next week (make sure to make your dinner reservations!), and more. Please find details below and let me know if you have any questions!
I hope to see you all very soon - but hopefully on Sunday!
With gratitude,
Pastor Kathryn

White Voices Against Racism (WVAR) Events Coming Up!
|
|
Continuing on our Journey to Justice, WVAR is excited to share our upcoming Greensboro History Tour! Learning our history is vital to our understanding of the present and for prosperity in the future. White Voices Against Racism will host a series of tour events that highlight the history of the personal and local struggle against injustice. Three different events are offered, spanning 200 centuries of Greensboro’s history. Details for Tour 1 are below, with additional information about Tour 2 (October 8) and Tour 3 (October 22) on the organization's website.
Tour 1: September 17 - 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. - Guilford Woods, The Underground Railroad
The significance of the woods as a place of refuge has been passed down through the years. Abolitionist Levi Coffin grew up north of the site and references these woods between his home and his New Garden Quaker Meeting as a place of refuge. The case of John Dimery’s escape and quick movement to Indiana in 1819 is the earliest documented instance of Underground Railroad activity in the Guilford Woods.
The best part... these are all FREE to attend!
More details and registration can be found at www.wvar.love
or contact Mark E. Kirstner.

These are some of the pictures that Wynston Walker shared with the Mission Committee earlier this week. Not only did the barrels that Fellowship helped fill and send to Liberia arrive, but their contents also were distributed to many in his home community. On behalf of Wynston and the Mission Committee, THANK YOU to all who helped donate and support the barrels. The Committee hopes to send more barrels in 2023!

Please bring any you don’t use to church with you, leaving them on the Missions table in the Dogwood Lobby closest to the double doors leading towards the classrooms.
