Weekly News & Updates

September 15, 2023

When I was in junior high, a seminarian took a piece of dental floss, stuck it up his nose, coughed, and pulled the string out of his mouth, and proceeded to "floss". We talked about it at school all week.

I can't say I'm going to go to that extreme, but if Sunday is any indication, I proved, once again, that I am not below costumes and laughs to get people talking and thinking about events at our church.

Worship was wonderful. The post-worship luncheon was spectacular because of the hard work of the Church Life Ministry Team.

When I woke up Monday morning, I didn't think much of feeling "off" since I had what many pastors call the "Kickoff Sunday Hangover". But the test proved it was a bit more than that...

I am very fortunate: my symptoms have been extremely mild and my family has remained healthy. So, I will see you on Sunday with a mask on when we will hear the continuation of the gospel and hear what Jesus says about forgiveness. Stay afterwards for the Enrichment Hour.

Check the rest of the newsletter for the wonderful events coming up this week!

Until then, I pray that YOU stay healthy, and I look forward to seeing you at church this Sunday!

With gratitude,

Pastor Kathryn

Support Backpack Beginnings

Wondering what to do with all of those grocery shopping bags? The Missions Ministry Team collects “gently used” plastic grocery bags for Backpack Beginnings. Please bring any you don’t use to church with you, leaving them in the marked box in the Dogwood Lobby closest to the double doors leading towards the classrooms.

Backpack Beginnings & Applewood Delivery Update

The residents of the Applewood Housing Community are assessing the need for food deliveries from Backpack Beginnings. Until then, the bimonthly deliveries from Backpack Beginnings to Applewood that we have been assisting with are suspended. Look for more information about other ways to support the organization and Applewood soon.
