Fellowship family,
Wow! Our Lenten season and Holy Week at Fellowship was once again a wonderful journey. I am profoundly grateful for all involved in making our Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday services at Fellowship this past week a deeply meaningful time of worship, contemplation, and celebration! It was particularly meaningful to share a large portion of our Holy Week journey with the staff and congregation of Guilford Park Presbyterian Church.
I don't know about you, but the weather affects me more than I typically care to admit. Last week, I was feeling particularly overwhelmed and blamed my low energy level on the gloomy weather outside. Just then, I overheard a nurse ask, "Will it ever stop raining?!" Another nurse nearby responded, "I doubt it...I can't see any end in sight." I thought of this brief encounter today as I took a walk in the sunshine on my lunch break in the 80-degree weather. The end of the rain came! Author and poet Maya Angelou famously said "Every storm runs out of rain..."Beloved, it can sometimes be so difficult to think about the sunshine when all we can see, and feel is rain. Ecclesiastes reminds us "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven..." And through it all, God is present. God is there with you, in the midst of storms and all the "bad weather" life can produce. Be encouraged in each of these seasons, my dear friends- we are not alone!
Certainly Scripture leads us to believe the lives of the disciples were filled with fear and doubt, even with the knowledge of Jesus’ resurrection! What can we learn from this story? Join us in worship this week to find out! This Sunday, I will serve as our proclaimer during worship as Pastor Kathryn continues to enjoy time away. We will re-imagine the story of "doubting Thomas" and the lives of the other disciples post-resurrection.
I look forward to seeing you in worship!
Grace and peace,
Blake
