Weekly News & Updates

June 27, 2025

Last week is a bit of a blur to me, and it's hard to think it's only been a week since I traveled to Pennsylvania and back for my continuing education experience. Despite what the pictures above may communicate, I really did learn a lot during the two-day Work of Fred Rogers Symposium. As I have been processing everything I learned, I continue to tell people that it was a refreshing change, believe it or not, to be in the "minority" as one of three, maybe four, pastors in attendance. The rest of the 150 included school administrators, teachers of all age groups, differing in public versus private school contexts, social workers, therapists, and other professionals who work with children and families. To be able to meet them, learn from them, and talk through different aspects of their work and experiences with children outside of the ministry context was good for a fresh outlook on parts of my professional ministry work. Did I get to "talk" through a few things with Mister Rogers while also holding a baby joey - random? Perhaps. A fun surprise? Absolutely.

It has been wonderful, this week, to reconnect with many of you and get back into the swing of things. Details continue to come together for the 60th Anniversary Weekend in September - please be sure to see the details just below the Coffice Hours image. This Sunday in worship, we will begin the first of a four-week sermon series highlighting some of the women in the bible, hearing more of their stories and what we can learn from them. The series is inspired by a new book, written by my friend and seminary classmate, Rev. Rebecca Craig, which comes out in August. I hope to see you at 10am, whether in-person or online.

And be sure to check out the many opportunities to connect as a Church Family below - there's a lot of fun to be had!

Continuing to give thanks for the many ways we do ministry together,

Pastor Kathryn

60th Anniversary Weekend Updates!

Help Support Our 60th Anniversary Silent Auction & Raffle!

The 60th Anniversary Task Force is hard at work planning a memorable weekend-long celebration. One exciting part of the festivities will be a Silent Auction and Raffle, taking place the week leading up to—and including—the Anniversary weekend.

Your help is needed to make it a success!

Each church member is asked to reach out to your favorite local businesses, restaurants, or service providers to request donations. Whether it’s a gift basket, a service, or a unique experience, every contribution makes a difference. You can also donate personally—no item is too big or too small!

Need ideas?

  • Handmade items (art, crafts, baked goods)
  • Services (pet-sitting, yard work, music lessons)
  • New Talents (a gift certificate for your karate den or favorite personal trainer)
  • Experiences (event tickets, lake days, vacation home stays)

Proceeds will be split in three ways: the general operating fund, the capital campaign, and a 10% tithe to support the Mission Ministry Team’s work in the greater Greensboro community.

Donation request letters—including the church’s tax ID number—are available in the Dogwood Lobby on Sunday mornings or in the Church Workroom during the week and can be picked up during Office Hours. When you receive a donation, please fill out the form at the bottom of the letter or use this link to access the online form.

Questions? Reach out to Pastor Kathryn or Victor White. Thank you for being part of this joyful celebration and meaningful fundraising effort!
