Needle Felting Hats Are
Great Fun!
This is the first hat that I made with the Living Felt "needle
felt a hat" kit.
I used a cookie cutter to help me shape the "leaves"
I used to embellish the hat.
Then I added a bit of yarn for the veins in the leaves.

Here are some
supplies to consider for your next project:
Our choice for fiber is any color in the MC-1
of Fast Felting Batts.
We love this fiber for both needle felting and wet felting ....
not because we make it, but the other way around:
We make it because we LOVE IT for multi-purpose
felting!
This fiber pulls off
the batt easily and evenly! The colors are gorgeous,
with huge props to Rodney, our President & Chief Mixologist!
It needle felts
to a smooth finish, and wet felts easily, smoothly and can be
shaped and creased.
Multi-needle tools are very important for needle felting
large surface areas
such as hats or purses. Above are some great picks for needle
felting a hat.
Wooden
4- Needle Tool
- economical, will help you get the area felted
more quickly and evenly
than if you attempted to needle felted with single needles or
even holding multiple needles.
Difference from metal tools - lighter weight, needles spaced apart
slightly more.
Just make sure you needle felt the area very smooth and flat by
going over the area
repeatedly and making sure there are no puffy pockets.
Metal
4-Needle Tool
- still affordably priced, easy to handle,
lovely weight, needle more close together.
Felts your surface area quickly and evenly. Very satisfying to
work with, can also be used
for smaller projects.
Metal
6-Needle Tool
- stout, nice to hold and work with, needle spacing
like the metal 4-needle tool.
Epecially designed to help felt large areas quickly, and it does
a great job at it.
We find great use for all 3
of these models, but if you can afford just one for now,
we recommend the Metal
4-Needle Tool and we think you will like how quickly
it felts both large and smaller areas of your projects.
Needle Felting
Foam Forms for Hats and Vessels!
These foam
forms will last you for multiple projects. Just pick your size,
grab some wool, a multi-needle tool and you are good to go!

Hot Tip: When
the hat will be wet felted for a tight, smooth finish, try starting
with a larger sized foam than you think you need. That will shrink
in the wet felting process.
This hat was needle
felted on
an adult large form and later
wet felted...right now, its too big! :)
Needle
Felting a Hat Kit
Of course you can get a complete
kit for needle felting hat!
Thanks to our lovely models: Suzanna, wearing our hat after it
was wet felted, and Lynette Marie - our production manager.
The kit inludes: foam,
wool, color instructions, and the deluxe inludes the
wooden 4-needle felting tool.
