Highway 1 Re-Opened Today!!!

After 3 long years, Hwy 1 through the iconic Big Sur region is now fully open! Cambria and Carmel are re-connected along this epic coastal route. I'm looking forward to a spring camping trip at Pfeiffer State Park!

I'm overjoyed with my finished Harvest Flowers Sweater using Cambria DK. The colorwork was challenging on this one, but worth it. I love the colors, Monterey Pine, Squibb House, Templeton, and Wild Turkey, and the Cambria DK yarn is so yummy to work with!

Summer Lee's newest book, The Sock Obsession, that I mentioned last week will be arriving in the shop on Friday. We'll get all the pre-orders shipped out before we leave for the day!

Fun Felted Slippers

Back in December, I had highlighted the new and popular Sailor Slippers Pattern from Annie Germain. Last week, I completed a pair of these adorable and comfy felted slippers and I'm a huge fan! I knit mine using 3 colors of the new Wooldorf yarn from Gusto. The pattern instructions are straightforward and these knit FAST on US 11 needles.

I also learned quite a bit about successfully machine felting in my new washing machine that does not have a center agitator. I used a hot water wash with a small amount of gentle soap and stopped the machine before it started the cold water rinse. I followed that with a spin cycle. And I also threw in a pair of old sneakers for the entire process to help with the agitation.

Will used puffy paint to add whimsical designs on the slipper bottoms to give me some tread. You may see me wearing mine around the shop! These slippers make me smile!

The Young and Trendy yarns or the Slippers yarn from Laines Du Nord are other great choices for felted slippers!

Cambria Art & Wine Festival is January 31st

I had so much fun last year that I've decided to participate in the Cambria Arts & Wine Festival again this year. It was a day of merriment with some of the jolliest shoppers I've ever met. I'll let you know as soon as I find out which winery I'm partnered with.

I plan to set up a Build a Kit Bar featuring the yarns from Urth and Gusto! I have beautiful samples for each kit project with patterns and yarns for you to pick from to create your own custom project!
