Beth Covert of Toledo, Ohio designed this gorgeous hand puppet
for a horse rescue,
below she shares a little more about how she made him.
"I used the New
Zealand Corriedale Wool in Pilgrim's
Harvest with details in white and black. Jed started out to be just
a finger puppet ...
But when a silly looking polka dotted turnout sheet was graciously donated
to the real Jed (a much loved rescued Belgian Draft Horse)
I knew I had to make a version that would accommodate his wardrobe and
he became a full hand puppet.
So I cut a piece of store bought felt to make a cone, cut a hole in the
top and felted it onto the finger puppet.
After needle felting the entire cone to match the head, I started adding
additional for the chest and the butt.
I added an additional "wad" of needle felted batting to the
inside back of Jed so that he rested firmly on the hand and arm.
Little Jed has been sent to Rosemary Farm Sanctuary in South Kortright,
New York to reside with Big Jed.
He will be used for fund raising and fun videos about Rosemary Farms and
the horses they rescue on Youtube."

Wet Felting a Purse Workshop with Marie!
August 27, 2011 - Saturday, 9am - 4pm
If
you will be in or around Austin, we'd love to have you join us for a
full day of felting with friends.
In this wet felting workshop, we will use Scandinavian style felt-making
to craft a gorgeous,
one-of-a-kind purse.
All Materials included, beginners welcome!
