"Eventually you will come to understand that love heals everything, and love is all there is."

- Gary Zukav

The gift of loving kindness is a truly amazing thing, as love can travel great distances through space and time to bring healing when and where it is needed most.

One of the things all of us here LOVE about our job, is that our clients - aka You - our "felting friends", are so often creating gifts from their hearts for those they love, or even as a treat for themselves. There is something magical about playing a part in this perpetual stream of loving, giving and creativity that makes our work incredibly rewarding.

We hope this week that you will reach out to someone in your life, near or far, present or past, and let them know how they touched your heart in some lasting way.

A
s always, we wish you happy felting, and let us know if you have any questions or need any support by emailing us at
customer service@livingfelt.com

With Love,
Marie

Elizabeth Payne of Erie, PA created this amazing Poppy handbag
for her sister. Read about it below and see more photos on our blog.

Hi there! This past fall, my sister commissioned me to design a handbag for her inspired by Georgia O’Keefe’s legendary poppy paintings. I knitted and fulled the base handbag from Louet Gems Chunky Wool from an original design. The poppy petals were needle felted over the earth harmony hat form to help form their curved shape with shades of Marigold, Tangerine, Red NZ Corriedale, Merino Top and Poppy [Merino-]Cross Fast Felting Batts. After needle felting, the petals were firmed up by using an electric sander to wet felt them.

The edges of the outside petals were wired with 24g wire to help hold the curved shape. The center bud of the flower was needle felted from Black, Lilac Haze and Lima Bean. A fringe of black wool yarn was accented with seedbead fringe tipped with dark amethyst Swarovski Crystal. The back of the purse was needle felted with a pictoral design of a poppy garden. The inside of the bag is lined in red silk shantung with black ultrasuede trim for the zipper facings. My sister loves the bag! It was a stunning accessory when she wore her red boiled wool blazer and black skirt over the holidays!”

In 2010 Living Felt held an International Felting Contest with two themes: Felted Dolls
and Alice In Wonderland.

The contest was designed to inspire quality in craftsmanship, to encourage artists to reach for their very best effort, to create a lasting source of inspiration to artists, and to support promotion of felting as an artistic medium.
