Firmware Version 4.2.0 Is Here With New Modbus Feature Enhancements

We are excited to announce new Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU features. Owners of Fend 5- and 15-series data diodes can download the new firmware version 4.2.0 from the Fend Support Portal. This release expands on-diode capabilities by offering new Modbus features including:

  • Expanded register ranges. Address all 65,535 registers per function code (up from 10,000).
  • Support for 500 polling groups (up from 32) and more registers.
  • Improved polling for function codes 1 (read coils) and 2 (discrete inputs). Now read and send 2,000 registers per poll (up from 125).
  • New Modbus ID remapping functionality. Change and map Modbus IDs from input devices to different Modbus IDs on the output side of the diode.
  • Enhanced configuration interface:
  • Address registers directly by function code and address number.
  • Enter large contiguous ranges in one line (no need to break up requests into groups of 125 registers).
  • Plus many more!
