CURRENT EVENTS

Special Guest -- From Flying High to Eye in the Sky

Jason Eckerle, MS, AT visited Ms. Amy Anders' Athletic Training I course on November 14. He shared that his interest in athletic training started in high school, and continued when he received his BS in AT from Ball State University.

Through various connections at schools, combined with his employment experience, he finished his MS at Miami in exercise science. He now uses his MS degree and works with the aerospace physiology research team at Wright Patterson Air Force base. This weekday job helps improve fighter pilot performance at high G's and high altitudes. But, on weekends, he uses his AT certification as a medical spotter for select games (Big 12 and MAC for example). Plus, he works as a PRN for many hospitals around the area.

We want to give a HUGE thank you to Mr. Eckerle for taking time out of his busy schedule to help educate our students!

Teacher In-Service, No School
November 21

Friday, November 21, will be a Faculty In-Service Day and we will not hold classes. Faculty will report for a professional development day.

Please note: Juniors will be returning from their three-day retreat on that day and nothing will change for their experience. Freshmen, Sophomores, and Seniors will not have classes.

Mark your calendar! On Tuesday November 18, we come together as one Fenwick Family — to give, to celebrate, and to honor the tradition that unites us all!

This year’s Day of Giving is more than a campaign. It’s a call to action. A celebration of who we are — and who we are becoming. It’s Fenwick’s future made brighter because of YOU!

Stay tuned for more details, but for now please save the date, and join us in making a lasting impact!

Want to get a head start? You can give today. Your gift will count towards our Day of Giving total.

Together . . .
WE ARE
UNSTOPPABLE!

Together . . .
WE ARE
FENWICK.!!

Fenwick Honors Veterans

On Tuesday November 11, we honored veterans and current service members, to recognize, celebrate, and thank them for their service. Thank you to all in attendance!

Over 160 veterans honored us by joining our event, including a special guest, Jerry Ferris. Mr. Ferris is a retired U.S. Marine and shared his thoughts and experiences with the students and fellow veterans. “I think about my buddies all the time and I do this not only for me, but in auspice of their help,” he said. “God left me here for a reason.”

Mr. Ferris is a recent inductee of the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame. Read more about Mr. Ferris' life in the Journal News.

Junior Retreat

November 19-20

Junior retreat will be taking place in just a few weeks at Damascus Catholic Mission Campus.

Junior parents: be sure you have filled out the Damascus registration as well as the permission slip on Portals.

We kindly ask that you keep the junior class in your prayers over the next few weeks, that they may experience God’s love in a whole new way through this experience!

Family Faith Night

Thursday, December 11
6:30-7:30

Mark your calendars for our first semester Family Faith Night!

Our evening includes adoration, confession, and praise and worship, followed by refreshments! We hope that you and your family will join us for a beautiful evening of faith and community.

Counseling Connections

Emotional Wellness

Mrs. Weisbrod and I had the good fortune of attending a debate in our English 12 class regarding the pros and cons of cell phone use in schools. The students did a respectable job researching their stance and presenting their findings. The pro side took the perspective of teaching personal responsibility and safety while the cons focused more on mental health implications. Both sides found a wealth of support for their stance. In the end, the majority of our seniors, while they enjoy access to their cell phones, believe limiting access to cell phones in school is more beneficial for the learning environment.

Here is your challenge: As a family, discuss the pros and cons of allowing cell phones in schools. More importantly, how can each family member work to regulate their own usage when it interferes with productivity or well-being?

College Planning

FLOCK BLOCK WITH
OUR COUNSELORS

Seniors spent time with their counselors reviewing various scholarship search tactics. National, local, and college-specific hints were shared.
