I'm a Believer campaign to support                school gears up for rally on  March 5
Fern Creek High School is launching the I'm a Believer campaign today to show the world that our students, faculty/staff, parents and the community support the positive improvements being made here. The month-long effort to sBeliever t shirt designhow broad-based support for the school is sponsored by the Fern Creek Alumni Association and will culminate with the "I'm a Believer Rally" on Monday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. in Alumni Auditorium.
It's been almost two years since an audit team from the Kentucky Department of Education visited Fern Creek and determined it was an underperforming school. Since then Fern Creek has made tremendous strides improving virtually every test school with some of the highest percentages of positive change in the state. Another team will be here the first week of March conducting a Leadership Audit to determine how the school's administrators have done in leading the school to improved performance.
"We want everyone to know about the amazing turnaround that Dr. Barber, the Leadership Team,  and the faculty/staff have orchestrated here at Fern Creek," said Brian Miller, Executive Director of Alumni and Community Relations. "Wearing an 'I'm a Believer' t-shirt at school or around the community is a visible symbol of how much we all support our school and its leadership."
Dr. Barber has challenged the faculty and staff to embrace the hard work and changes required to achieve these academic improvements by asking, "Are you a believer" in what is going on at our school. The theme of this campaign came from the obvious answer to Dr. Barber's recurring question.
Everyone from students to local residents is being asked to purchase their own I'm a Believer  t-shirt for only $5 ($6 for 2XL/3XL) and wear it often leading up to the day of the
rally. T-shirts are available in the school's main office, the Alumni Office, during lunch periods next week, during the Parent Teacher Conferences on Monday, or by emailing brian.miller@fchs.us.
And, of course, mark your calendar to attend the I'm a Believer Rally on March 5.

 Rock the Test Orange
It's Time Once Again to Rock the Test
It's time for students at Fern Creek to focus and show what they know come test time. It's time to Rock the Test. This year the focus is on new End of Course Assessment tests (EOCs) in U.S. History on February 21 and in Algebra II and Biology on February 22; all Juniors taking the ACT pre-college readiness test on March 6; Advanced Placement tests May 7 - 18;  and a variety of other tests throughout the spring.
Parents are encouraged to work with their students during the Rock the Test timeframe to help them do their best. Tips include:
*   Make sure you know which tests your student is taking and when.
*   Work with your student each night to make sure they are completing their work and understand it.
*   Support and encourage your student to participate in all after school tutoring opportunities.
*   Make sure your student gets plenty of rest and eats a good breakfast each day during the testing period.
*   Call or email the school if you have any questions.
Rock the Test t-shirts will be given to Sophomores and Juniors during upcoming CAT periods. T-Shirts will be available for other students, faculty and staff for $5.
