In-Utero Cardiac Intervention for Complex CHD

For select fetal heart conditions, intervention before birth can significantly improve outcomes.

Lurie Children’s is among a small number of U.S. centers offering advanced fetal cardiac interventions for complex congenital heart disease. Using real-time ultrasound guidance, our team performs fetal balloon valvuloplasty and Fetal Atrial Septal Intervention (FASI) to relieve obstruction and support cardiac development.

These procedures may reduce progression to single-ventricle physiology and improve postnatal outcomes.
