Jessica will be with us on  Saturday, April 2nd . She'll start the day with a crochet Stitch Round Up, sharing expert techniques to take your crochet to the next level. This one hour class starts at  11:00  and costs $20.  Bring your yarn and appropriately sized hook.

At  1:00 on  April 2nd Jessica will continue the fun with a Class to Dye For!  Come dye  a hank of sock weight yarn and learn how to create your very own colorway. Class fee is $25, which includes dye stuffs. Yarn for dyeing, Plymouth Happy Feet, is an additional $20. Class size is limited! Register in advance to save your spot!

End the day with a new skill - spin with a drop spindle. Jessica's most popular class starts at  3:30 on April 2nd, and she'll have you making yarn in no time flat. Class fee is $20, plus materials. Bring a spindle or purchase one at the store.

Hey Sock Knitters, ready to try something different? The Squircle Sock is perfect for self-striping yarn and showcases a different heel technique for cuff-down socks. Cast on with Joan on  Saturday, April 2 at 11:00;  then continue on  April 16th .  We have several great yarns to suggest for this project, so stop in early to pick out your favorite.

Here's a great after-school project for the kids to celebrate Spring! Help our fine feathered friends by providing fiber for nesting materials. Using a blunt tapestry needle, we'll sew a drawstring net bag, then fill it with wool and alpaca fiber. Adorn with brightly colored yarn and hang the nesting ball in your backyard tree. Birds will take bits of fiber and yarn from the ball to use when building their nests.  Thanks to Owsley Fork Farm for providing alpaca fiber. All materials and supplies are provided, and a little snack to boot! Class fee is $5.00 and will take an hour. The class is offered at  3:30  on Mondays,  April 4 , 11, and 18.

Just in time for Spring at the Farmers Market, join Joan to make this great tote, the Flower Power Bag.  Using just 1 ball of Cairns, a cotton acrylic blend, this tote knits up fast from the bottom up using size 7 or 8 needles.  Class fee is $20 and class will meet at 1 pm on Friday, April 8th and continue on Friday, April 15th.

Knit a summer poncho with Judy beginning Tuesday, April 12th at 2 pm, and continuing the following Tuesday, 19th.  This is a fast and easy pattern using Bamboo Pop, a combination of cotton and bamboo on a size 7 or 8 circular needle, 24".  Class fee is $50 and includes 3 balls of Bamboo Pop yarn.  This lightweight wrap will carry you through the spring and summer in style! Attend either class to begin project, but feel free to attend both to work on your poncho.

Knit a version of the Bosc Pear Shawl using Sunshine Coast, a gorgeous, self-striping merino and bamboo blend, and size 7 or 8 circular needles, 24 or 32".    Only 1 skein  required for a nice shawlette that will complement any outfit. Class fee of $39 includes the yarn, in choice of 4 colorways.  Class will meet on Thursdays, 14th, and 21st, at 3 pm.  You can attend both classes, or just one if you want to begin the project and proceed on your own.  We are always here for help when needed.

Hot weather is coming and long socks give way to short socks for comfort sake!  Knit a short pair of socks with reinforced heel cup and ball of foot pad. These are fast knits using size 3 DPNs and DK weight yarn.  You will love the softness of Louisa Harding Cassia Yarn, in solids or prints. Class fee of $45 includes instruction and yarn. Tuesday and Thursday, April 26 and 28, 2 pm.

Learn to Knit/Learn to Crochet with Judy on Tuesdays in April and get a head start on beautiful hand-crafted finery and gifts. We'll tailor classes to your schedule and make sure that you are prepared to succeed with your first project. $20/hr.  Call now to reserve your time with Judy at 11 am on Tuesdays, or another time convenient for you.

Spinning Day
Saturday,  April 16th
2:00 - 5:00 pm

Spinners bring your wheels or spindles on  Saturday, April 16,  and share the love. We always have a bunch of laughs and share techniques along the way. You might find a new obsession, or at least a nice refreshment.  This is open spin time, no structure, no requirements, no rules.

Tuesday Therapy
April 19th
5 to 7 pm

Everyone needs fiber therapy, so bring your current project or start a new one. Feel free to bring snacks and we will just kick back and eat, laugh, have a good time, and hopefully do a little knitting and/or crocheting.  You will be amazed at how much fun you can have at "Therapy."

Help us "Yarn Bomb our Yard" on Saturday, April 9th, beginning at 11 am.

Knit or crochet lots of pieces to add to our yarn buntings and we will decorate the trees
and benches in our yard, and the horse and dog, and on and on!

This will be a fun activity culminating in a day of partying as we get together to welcome Spring to Fiber Frenzy.

Our fiber friends bring incredible color and texture to our lives. They strengthen us, hold us together, cover our scars, and add beauty to our lives. With this in mind we have launched our community weaving project. Stop in and lend a bit of yourself - some yarn or floss or ribbon, woven into the tapestry. Many thanks to Amanda Bridges, the Hippie Art Chick, for this beautiful idea, for providing the loom and warping it for our first ever Community Tapestry.

Are you a fiber artist? Do you participate in craft fairs? Do you love quilts?  This year the Berea Arts Council is expanding the scope of its annual event, and launching the Quilt and Fiber Extravaganza,  July 29 & 30, at the Berea Community School.  Vendor space is available for a nominal fee. Also, the organizers seek workshop presenters!  Send inquiries to info@BereaArtsCouncil.org or call  859-985-9317.  The deadline for both is May 4.  This event draws fiber enthusiasts from far and wide, giving you a great opportunity to expand your market.
