Spring is in the air! We've had several days of sunshine in a row, the grass is turning green and birds are busy building nests. I love the new life that surrounds us at this time of year. As we open the windows to fresh air, let's open our stitching to fresh ideas.
Tuesday afternoons you will find many knitters sitting around our
table working on projects of their own or knockers to make sure our bins stay full for the many requests that come in. If you have a few hours free, join us for a little "fiber therapy" and lots of fun, 3 to 5 pm. You will feel renewed and refreshed after spending time with your fiber friends.
Some bunny loves you! For sure this adorable bunny does - and its a quick knit with worsted weight yarn and size 3 DPNs. Are you experiencing the joy of tidying up? If that t-shirt is no longer sparking joy, repurpose it! Joan will show you the clever way to cut the shirt and join strips to create a continuous strand of yarn. Bring up to four of your t-shirts (the smaller the embellishments the better) on April 18 at 3:30 for a fun class, with a fee of only $5.00!
Matt and rotary cutter will be provided.
You made the yarn, now let's put it to use! Crochet this sweet basket with your repurposed t-shirt yarn! Jessica will show you how on April 20 at noon. Bring your yarn and a size G or H crochet hook. Class fee is $20.
This is a pivotal year for Judy and she's out to try new things and
prove "old dogs can learn new tricks!" Last month it was my first time to try a "Pi" shawl. It turned out great and was a fun knit. I think for April it will be an asymmetrical semicircular shawl. I've been seeing them on FB a lot, so it's time to try one. Join me on Thursday, April 11th at 2 pm, Saturday, April 13th at 1 pm, or Tuesday, April 23rd at 3 pm to start your own shawl. Class is free with purchase of yarn for this shawl. I'm going to use sock yarn and a size 5 needle. If you choose to use
DK weight yarn, you might opt for a size 7 needle.
Sock Club meets most Friday afternoons at 3:00. We share tips, techniques, and more than a few laughs. In the month of April, we'll meet on the 5th, 19th and 26th. With new sock yarns in the shop you are sure to find your inspiration.
Spinning Day is April 20! Bring your spindle or wheel and join this
group of friendly folk who fiddle with fluff. The frivolity begins around 2:30 or 3:00. There is usually a nice assortment of snacks to share and plenty of chairs. Want to start or improve your spinning skills? Schedule a lesson with Jessica for 1:00. In an hour or less you will be making yarn. Lesson fee is $20.
Jessica's Creations is one of our most popular local yarn and spinning fiber. When Jessica is in the house, on April 20, her creations are ON SALE! Stop in for great deals.
As your Local Yarn Shop, we appreciate YOU! You could get your supplies any number of places, so we strive to provide you the extra service that you want. We will have a basket with %-off eggs to draw one when checking out to get 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, or 30% off of your total purchase of regular-priced yarns. We have a nice selection of sale yarns that will be available at a 30% discount. So plan to spend some time at our shop on Saturday, the 27th, and you'll be glad you did!!
