The gardens are planted and fresh vegetables abound! I love this time of year.  Brilliant summer flowers greet us at every bend in the road. It's also time to relax in the shade with a tall iced tea and a light-weight knitting project.  We have a large selection of cottons, linens and blends to keep your hands occupied.

Hemp is the new fiber of choice for those summer projects, and Hempathy is a fantastic blend of hemp and cotton.  Join Joan for a sweet KAL of this Pastiche Lacy Tea Towel. Cast on the lace border  July 6, work the bottom section  July 13 and the main diamond pattern on  July 20.  All classes begin at  1:00 p.m.   The class is free with the purchase of 1 ball of Elsbeth Lavold Hempathy, and we have several colors from which to choose. This is a nice, small project to practice charts that results in a very functional decorative touch for your kitchen or bath.

Shoulder Cozy.  Call it a capelet. Or a poncho. Or a cowl. It's the perfect touch of warmth for all seasons. Scrunch it up around your neck when you put your coat on, then slip it down over your shoulders when you get there. Or pleat the neck with a pretty pin. It knits up in a weekend using size 11 or 13 needles, and Ella Rae Cozy Alpaca Chunky yarn which is so soft and luxurious, yet machine washable.  Shop sample used only 2 skeins.   $15 class fee covers pattern and instruction.  Yarn can be purchased separately prior to class.  July 11th or July 22nd  at 3 p.m.

Berea's Festival of Learnshops will be in full swing during the month of July.  Our contribution is a Sheep to Scarf workshop, which meets 9:30 - 12:30 on July 10, 11, 13 and 14.  Learn how to wash and comb raw wool, spin a nice single ply yarn, dye it using natural dyestuffs, and crochet a sweet scarf.    Register on the Learnshops webpage

Does that natural dyeing pique your interest? Join us for just that part in the Dyeing to Meet Ewe Learnshop July 13from 2 - 5.  The Learnshop fee includes 1 hank of sock/fingering weight yarn and natural dyestuffs. Chances are your clothes will get stained, so dress accordingly.   Register on the Learshops webpage

After a month of hard work, relax those hands and engage your mind with the
