All the Beautiful Girls All the Beautiful Girls by Elizabeth J. Church
When she was eight years old, Lily Decker somehow survived the auto accident that killed her parents and sister, but neither her emotionally distant aunt nor her all-too-attentive uncle could ease her grief. Dancing proves to be Lily's only solace. Grown and ready to leave home for good, Lily changes her name to Ruby Wilde and heads to Las Vegas to be a troupe dancer, but her sensual beauty and voluptuous figure land her work instead as a showgirl. Ruby may have all the looks of a Sin City success story, but she still must learn to navigate the world of men -- and figure out what real love looks like. With her uncanny knack for understanding the hidden lives of women, Elizabeth J. Church captures both the iconic extravagance of an era and the bravery of a young woman who dances through her sadness to find connection, freedom, and, most important, herself.

Educated Educated by Tara Westover
Not since The Glass Castle has a memoir significantly moved me like Educated has. Tara Westover's description of her family is harsh and stark while at the same time haunting and beautiful. Her unconventional upbringing by conservative Mormon parents in Idaho is fascinating, and you will not be able to put down this book until you absorb every word. And even then it will not leave you.

A March 2018 Indie Next Pick

Chicago Chicago by David Mamet
This period piece will take you back to the outlaw prohibition days in Chicago, and will not disappoint with well developed characters and a powerful and compelling story. Mamet is a writer 'of a style,' and challenges his readers to keep pace. In many ways, reading Mamet is like watching a vintage 8mm home movie as his writing can be erratic and at times will blur at the edges or seemingly jump randomly from sequence to sequence. But like those old home movies, the images he paints with his words will have a visceral impact. Once you settle in to the cadence and phrasing and immerse yourself in his inimitable style, you will find yourself standing alongside Mike Hodge as he lives a story of love, murder, and revenge. This is a strong story well told, and I would call it a solid 4/5.

Custom House - Release Date: 2/27/18 - Format: Hardcover - Price: $27.99

The Sandman The Sandman by Lars Kepler
This Silence of the Lambs-esque thriller starts out fast-paced and continues to accelerate as you read on. Do yourself a favor and make sure you have plenty of free time ahead before you start to read this one -- it will grab you and keep you turning pages well into the wee hours. As inspector Joona Linna pursues answers to a 13 year old mystery, the images of villain Jurek Walter will haunt you and continue to do so long after the book comes to a close. The intricate twists and turns keep coming right up to the final page. This one is a sure hit, and I suspect will take America by storm.

The only person he wants to see regularly is his childhood friend, Jack, who senses an evil presence in the swamp Johnny loves so much. When bodies start piling up on Johnny's land, the sheriff goes on a manhunt, convinced that Johnny had something to do with the inexplicable deaths. A story about friendship, family, and connection, Hart does not disappoint with his newest book. His writing will draw you in from the first chapter, and you'll be hooked until the end.
