Check Your Inbox for Quarterly Reports!

We're Halfway Through 2016

Heritage Home Program Quarterly Reports were emailed to city officials at the end of last week. Quarterly Reports provide each city with up-to-date statistics on HHP activity so far this year. These reports provide information on the number of inquiries from homeowners, technical assists and site visits, and loan activity in each specific community.
If you notice that a city staff member or councilperson is not currently receiving Quarterly Reports but would like to, please contact us at hhp@heritagehomeprogram.org and we'll add them to our contact list for future updates and reports. Questions? Email or call us at 216-426-3116.

Service Spotlight: Materials

When working with homeowners to repair or restore the ir house, Heritage Home Program staff often suggests historic materials that may not be available at big box hardware stores. We attempt to stay in touch with local distributors and specialty contractors to source construction materials that are appropriate for older homes.   We always keep our ear to the ground for reclaimed, or newly manufactured materials that can be substituted for the old.

Some examples of what we can help homeowners find:
  • Salvaged brick to match their existing masonry
  • Size-appropriate spindles for exterior porches
  • Tile or slate roofing companies
  • Tongue and groove wood flooring
  • Old window and door hardware
  • Specialty wallpapers
Below is an example of a specialty wallpaper manufactured by Lincrusta. Lincrusta is an embossed wallpaper that can look like leather. Heritage staff identified this special paper on an initial site visit and the homeowner was put in touch with a specialist.  The tradesperson was able to identify the pattern name and years it was produced (1885-1900).  The wall paper specialist then successfully restored the damaged areas, keeping an integral part of the interior architecture of the house.
