Dear Neighbor:

With the summer now behind us, we wanted to provide an update on the development of our liquefaction facility at Fields Point.

Construction has been on-going in support of the installation of the liquefier on the site. This work has included installation, inspection and maintenance of environmental controls around the perimeter of the work areas in accordance with the project’s Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plan. In addition, on-going construction activities have consisted of driven concrete piles and drilled micro-piles installations to support foundations; installation of utility corridors including electrical duct banks and raising the grade (or level) of the site.

We continue to work closely with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in their on-going review of the construction occurring at the Site. FERC performs regular visits, about every six to eight weeks, with the most recent visits occurring in June and August of 2019. FERC also anticipates visiting the project site this November. For reports on the most recent FERC visits to the site please click on the following links here and here . Please note these links take you PDFs of the visit reports, which you’ll need to click on to open.

In addition to these reports, National Grid continues to move ahead with construction activities as our subcontractor, GZA, performs perimeter air monitoring in accordance with the RI Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM)-approved Air Quality Monitoring (AQM) Plan. The air monitoring data collected by GZA on behalf of National Grid is submitted to RIDEM on a weekly basis. RIDEM posts the weekly AQM reports on the 642 Allens Avenue, Providence, RI Public Information Plan website . The AQM reports are also maintained in a public information repository at the Knight Memorial Library located at 275 Elmwood Avenue, Providence, RI. The public information repository is updated on a monthly basis.
We look forward to sharing more developments about the project in the months ahead. If you have any questions please contact us at [email protected] or on our hotline at 888.275.6326. We will respond to your inquiries within 48 hours.
