Message from our Pastor, Father Phil Reifenberg
|
|
Dear Parishioners,
Last week Archbishop Listecki unveiled “The Catholic Comeback” under which parishes are able to resume the celebration of public Sunday Masses on the last weekend of May, which is the Feast of Pentecost. Alleluiah! There are, however, a few restrictions and conditions that we will need to observe. Over the next couple of weeks, I intend to use this space to familiarize you with what the new normal is going to look like for the foreseeable future.

Father Phil continues to offer Mass privately for our requested intentions. Please keep our parish Mass Intentions in your daily prayers as well.
Contact the Parish Office at 892-4006 to request a Mass Intention or request to

Happy Mother’s Day!
On Mother’s Day weekend, we pray for our mothers and thank them for their loving service to our families and communities.
|
|
Loving God,
As a mother gives life and nourishment to her children, so you watch over your Church.
Bless our mother. Let the example of her faith and love shine forth.
Grant that we, her family, may honor her always with a spirit of profound respect.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Pastoral Council Connection
The Pastoral Council (PC) last met via Zoom (for the first time ever!) on April 14 and listed below are a few of the topics discussed at the meeting. If interested, the minutes from the meeting are available on the parish website in their entirety (
- Please welcome Tom Roy and Keith Ott to the positions of Trustees and welcome Erin Gramza as the newest member of the Pastoral Council.
- Masses continue to be celebrated with no more than 10 people in attendance and with social distancing practices observed. Parishioners may call or email the parish office to see if there are open spots available.
- Road America is optimistic that they will still have a race season this year. We will be looking at getting the Road America committee together and begin to prepare for the start of the race season so the stand will be ready to go.
- Envelope offerings have been drastically down due to COVID-19. As a reminder, parishioners can still drop off envelopes in the office drop box or make contributions online.
- Due to economic conditions and uncertainties, there is a tuition freeze for grades K - 8 as well as a salary freeze for staff.
The next PC meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 12th at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom.

This week we celebrated Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. Both the teachers and the students have been working exceptionally hard teaching and learning remotely. One of the most challenging things about learning remotely is that social interaction piece that all human beings desire. Therefore, to share appreciation of the teachers and staff, an “Appreciation Parade” was organized so that the families could drive around through the school’s parking lot to wave at the teachers and staff. Of course the teachers and staff wore masks and made a conscious effort to maintain social distance as the vehicles paraded past them. Even though they saw the students from a far, the parade was one of the best gifts that the teachers and staff could have ever asked for! Thank you for your continued support and prayers for the school.

May Crowning
May 13 / 3:00 pm / Live via Facebook
Please join us on Wednesday, May 13 at 3:00 on the School's Facebook page for a live-streamed May Crowning ceremony, social-distance style! The crowning of statues of Mary during the month of May is a popular form of devotion among Catholics in the United States.
Mary always points us to her son Jesus, the source of her strength. In crowning her statue, we honor Mary as the Queen of Heaven as well as a disciple of Jesus.
Although we cannot gather in person this year, we will continue SJB School's tradition of a May Crowning, making it available by live-stream. The second grade students will present flowers outside to Mary. Helena Erdly, the Student Council president, will crown Mary.
