"I consider everything as a loss
because of the supreme good of knowing
Christ Jesus my Lord."
~ Philippians 3:8

Sunday's Readings:
First Reading — The LORD does something new for the chosen people (Isaiah 43:16-21) or Ezekiel 37:12-14.
Psalm — The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy (Psalm 126) or Psalm 130.
Second Reading — The supreme good is knowing Jesus as Lord (Philippians 3:8-14) or Romans 8:8-11.
Gospel — A woman caught in the act of adultery is brought to Jesus. He challenges anyone without sin to throw the first stone (John 8:1-11) or John 11:1-45 [3-7, 17, 20-27, 33b-45].
|
|
Jesus knew that the scribes and Pharisees were trying to trap him. They put him in what seemed to be a no-win situation. Let the woman who was caught in adultery go, and he would have been accused of ignoring the law. Let her be stoned, and he would fail to show mercy toward her, contradicting his life’s message. Jesus’ response teaches three crucial lessons: none of us is free of sin; we are not the ultimate judges of others; Jesus is the mercy of God, in whom we can always trust. In Christ, God does something new. When we give our hearts to Christ, we have the hope of new life, a life in which mercy reigns.

In case you didn't hear, there was a power outage at our bulletin publisher's facility and their presses were down last week. Due to that they fell behind and we didn't receive any bulletins for Sunday, March 27, 2022, the Fourth Sunday of Lent.
We hope that they are back on track this Sunday and we'll have printed bulletins for all of our visitors at Sunday Mass. Just in case, please know that you can always catch up with the latest news from Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament on our website!

As we continue to build and grow and become Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish, you may notice some changes...
1) Recently we merged our parish database into one comprehensive set of records. Despite diligent pre-planning and our best efforts, not all of the data transferred correctly. If you notice errors in offertory envelopes or other mail received from the parish, please bring these errors to our attention and we will work to swiftly update your information.
2) Speaking of offertory envelopes, we noticed that some in our database received the last set of envelopes twice. Moving forward, everyone in the parish should receive offertory envelopes from Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament only. If you receive additional envelopes, please let us know and again, we will work swiftly to correct the situation.
3) And lastly, we know that Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament can be a lot to fit onto.a check payee line. Please feel free to abbreviate "OLBS" on paper checks made out to the parish. Thank you for your continued generosity!

During Lent, and especially Holy Week, we recall how God so loved the world that he sacrificed his only Son. We walk the "way of the cross" to remember how Jesus took on the sins of the world and opened the gates of Heaven for us. Every Friday during Lent our Ministry groups will take turns leading Stations of the Cross. This Friday, April 1st at 6pm at St. Julian Eymard, Good Samaritan Ministry leads.

Thank you for helping feed more than 200 neighbors in need again this month. Thanks to your generosity throughout the year, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament is able to faithfully serve one PADS Supper and one Catholic Charities Dinner per month. We want you to know that your donations to the Poor Box and the food you purchase and prepare is going to help the hungry right here in our local area.

"The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation."
–Numbers 14:18

Seven Last Words of Christ
|
As we journey through Holy Week and consider the magnitude of Jesus' sacrifice for us, join us for song, scripture and reflection on The Seven Last Words of Christ as he lay dying on the cross for our salvation. Traditionally celebrated on Good Friday, this time of reflection and song will help us enter more deeply into the Sacred Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter.

Who better to look to for guidance on evangelization than the Apostles and disciples of the early Church? And what better place to read their stories than in the firsthand account of the Acts of the Apostles? In the ten-part series Evangelization and the Acts of the Apostles, Dr. Mary Healy combines insightful biblical study with Church teaching and practical advice to show how modern Catholics can effectively impact their world for Jesus Christ.

There's still time to join us in supporting our parish's vital work through the Annual Catholic Appeal. Gifts of all sizes make a difference. Please consider giving today at annualcatholicappeal.com.
Please note, our Appeal Goal this year is $57,572, or about $8,000 less than last year's goal. If our giving to support the Appeal remains consistent with previous years, we will have that much more returned to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament. As a reminder, the rebate from the 2022 Annual Appeal is earmarked for installing/upgrading the livestream and video equipment in our worship sites. This will build on the work which is underway to upgrade the sound systems at both worship sites. The upgrade to our sound systems is being funded entirely by donation and rebate from the Annual Catholic Appeal. Thank you for your continued generosity to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament and the Archdiocese of Chicago to help us continue Christ's mission here in the Chcagoland area.

If you have any questions about the Annual Catholic Appeal or the parish rebate, Fr. Dan would be happy to speak with you.

Support QR School with Tax Credit Scholarships—It's a Win-Win!
Looking for a way to decrease your Illinois state income taxes by 75%, while also helping fund scholarships for students to attend Queen of the Rosary School? Make a donation to the Illinois tax credit scholarship program, and help provide eligible students with need-based scholarships that will allow them to attend Queen of the Rosary School.
Last year, at Queen of the Rosary School we were pleased to be able to fund six scholarships! However, five students were left on the waiting list. This year, with your help, we hope to be able to raise enough funds to offer a scholarship to every child on the list.
By contributing through the Illinois Invest in Kids program you can make the lifelong advantage of a Queen of the Rosary School education possible.
For more information, please contact the school office, 847-437-3322, or the archdiocese’s Tax Credit Scholarship Office at tcs@archchicago.org or 312.534.2617
