Happy Birthday, America!
The Fourth of July is when we, as Americans, celebrate our independence. Let us always recognize that what brings us together as Americans is much stronger than anything that can tear us apart.
This was evident during the Fourth of July Celebration at South County Regional Park, where nearly 2,000 people united to celebrate America's birthday. Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department Director Jennifer Cirillo and her staff created a truly magical evening filled with family, fun, flip-flops, fireworks and freedom.

Traffic is an issue that has continuously plagued the residents of District 5. To solve such an issue, we must realize that traffic is a symptom of development without proper infrastructure. This congestion on our roadways can lead to a multitude of problems: lack of connectivity, increased pollution, wasted time, stress, hypertension, accidents, lack of growth, and even death as a result of EMS limited response times. It is a serious issue and must be addressed before unbridled growth continues to worsen the issue within our district.
My office is committed to solving this issue and representing the will of the people. Please feel free to send your suggestions and comments to my office; I look forward to hearing your thoughts. We must take steps to protect our district now; tomorrow may be too late.

Lyons Road Construction Update
|
|
- Project cleanup is currently in progress. Mowers are onsite, working their way from Linton Blvd. and heading south.
- We are currently collaborating with the contractor to ensure that both southbound lanes between the areas of 155th and Golden Gate Ave. are opened for traffic. Some parts of the area require milling and resurfacing, and new temporary pavement markings will be added approaching the L38 bridge to improve traffic flow.
- The contractor will start working south of the new L-38 bridge once a change order is approved by the Board of County Commissioners. They’re expected to start in September.
- There has been a delay in the temporary signal construction at Atlantic Ave. and Lyons Road. Palm Beach County Engineering and Public Works Department's Traffic Division reports the delivery of temporary poles has been pushed to August due to material procurement delays.
- Once the temporary signal is in place, the contractor will begin working at the intersection of Lyons Road and Atlantic Ave.

I Found Kittens Outside. What Should I Do?
|
|
Did you know kittens are one of the most vulnerable populations in animal shelters and many end up there because of well-meaning animal lovers?
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals would like to help you figure out the best approach for helping kittens in your community. Removing kittens from their current environment may not always be the right answer as the mom cat could be nearby getting food (or hiding from you)— and no one can care for a kitten like their mom can.
Please answer the following questions to help choose the right path for the kittens you found:
Are they injured?
Are they sick?
Call the Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control Division at 561-233-1200 if they are in intermittent danger.

There is an abundance of mosquitos in my neighborhood. Whom do I call?
Call the Aerial Spray Hotline at 561-642-8775
to hear the most up-to-date information about current mosquito control operations.
Click Here to report mosquito activity. The form is used to report mosquito activity to Palm Beach County Mosquito Control. Please note that submission of this form does not always result in spraying. Palm Beach County Mosquito Control is required to verify and document the presence of a legitimate mosquito problem before treatment. By submitting the request for service, you are giving Mosquito Control permission to access your property and treat if necessary.
