Greetings,

After a year of broken promises from the Biden administration, it has become clear that regardless of who is in office, the fight for a humane and compassionate immigration system will be hard-fought and hard-won.

That's why at the National Immigration Project, we're doubling down on all aspects of our work. From upping our resource creation to expanding our CLE programming to engaging in new forms of advocacy and litigation, we're ready to keep fighting — and we're ready to win.
Urging Biden Admin to Disentangle Local Police from Immigration Enforcement
Last week, DHS Secretary Mayorkas betrayed the Biden administration's commitments to disentangle local policing from the federal detention and deportation system and called on local law enforcement agencies to assist DHS in the enforcement of federal civil immigration law. The National Immigration Project and its partners pushed back by releasing a statement to the public, DHS counselors, and the White House.

Submitting Public Comment to Family Reunification Task Force
On December 10, 2021, the Biden administration's Family Reunification Task Force requested public input on how the government can prevent family separation from occurring again in the future. This week, the National Immigration Project submitted a public comment calling on the federal government to fully investigate the Trump administration's zero tolerance family separation policy and commit to full accountability for those separations.

Monthly Removal Defense Webinar
For 50 years, the National Immigration Project has designed innovative legal strategies to defend immigrant rights and has shared those strategies through a robust CLE program. This month, we were excited to expand our CLE program with the addition of our Inaugural Monthly Removal Defense Webinar during months when we are not offering a day-long or two-day CLE. The next webinar in this series will be held on April 21. Save the date and check out our seminars page to find the most up-to-date information!

Help Us Improve Our Website!
This year, we will be updating our website's design and structure to better meet the needs of our diverse audiences. To help us create the best website possible, we hope you'll consider sharing your thoughts with us in this short survey. Please go with your gut and don't worry about grammar, spelling or any other imperfections that may get in the way of you writing freely and sharing openly.

Now Hiring: Legal Interns
We are now accepting applications for legal interns! Legal interns are exposed to a wide range of legal research and writing projects, including amicus briefs, pleadings in affirmative lawsuits, client declarations, practice advisories, legislative analysis, legal memoranda, advocacy letters, FOIA requests, and comments on proposed immigration regulations. Interns also assist with outreach and advocacy work.
